I'd second the suggestion to find a range that rents them and have her try them. If it were me, besides the Glock, I'd also consider the S&W M&P 9, and the Springfield XD. If I were starting from scratch, of those, I think the M&P 9 has the most adaptable grip, with backstrap inserts to change the grip size and it's the only one of those 3 that are American made. However, since I have a bunch of holsters, mags, and spare parts for the Glock 19, that what I've stuck with.

I tried the G19 and ended up with a XD9SC instead. My wife shoots it more than me, and its WICKED accurate....

Let her shoot both and buy the one she's most comfortable with.

My wife has small hands and is 5'2". She was fine with the 17 and 19. She said the 26 felt a little small so we didn't bother renting it. She also had no problem with a full size Kimber .45

try the G19 or even 17. My wife is 4'11'' and 115 lbs and handled the G17 pretty well.

To LE, Glock 22 is like smith and Wesson model 66 was in the 70's.

I tried the Sig 9mm and the Glock G19 and fell in love with the Glock. I found that as a female, it fit my hands and the recoil was totally unintimidating. I loved it and plan on getting one. But like others said, let her try a few because initially I set out to get the XD and didn't care about the Glock... just my two cents.

Glock 26 is a great pistol. Very accurate considering the barrel length. You'll need the magazine extension.
The Model 610 was classified as the XM177[3] but adopted by the Air Force as the GAU-5/A Submachine Gun (GAU = Gun, Aircraft, Unit.) The Army purchased 2,815 Model 609 CAR-15 Commandos on June 28, 1966, which were officially designated Submachine Gun, 5.56 mm, XM177E1. - Wikipedia

I vote for the G19 too. I have one and my gf loves it. Much easier for her to shoot than my Beretta 92FS. All glocks are reliable, but some are more than others. The Glock 26 I'm not sure about, but I know the G19 is right up there with the legendary reliability of the G17 (I believe).

my sister in law and my wife both shoot the G19, I use a G17. I reccomend that route...the gun is a bit larger true, but well within the grip of an average female and the slightly heavier gun will absorb a bit more of the recoil...besides, it's a G19, shouldnt every household have one?
