Small Hands

Any recommendations for handguns that fit better in smaller hands?

There are plenty of guns that work well for people with smaller hands, but it's hard to recommend anything without knowing what kind of gun you're looking for. Are you looking for a semi-auto or a revolver? Polymer framed or metal framed? Single action or double action? What is the gun to be used for?

Many good offerings coming out with interchangeable panels to customize to the shooters hands such as:

S&W M&P
Beretta PX4
Ruger SR9

Single stacks are also an option since the overall grip is slimmer:

1911's
Sig P6
Sig 239
Springfield EMP's

But again as above poster has said, some more info of what other features you are looking for would really really narrow down the options because the list could go on and on.

The FNP9 is a nice choice if looking for a semi auto.
Also some of the single stack guns such as one of the used Sig p6 or P225 are nice for a smallish hand.

I've never shot one, but it may very well be the current best bang for the buck for a new gun atm from the prices I've seen (~$450 NIB )

Great timing. I went shooting last night with a friend who has small hands. I had a variety of handguns there: Browning Buckmark .22, .38 Ruger SP101 with Hogue grip, HK P7M8 9mm, HK P2000sk .40 cal, HK USPf .45 cal. The last was the only one she didn't want to shoot. The .40 caliber fit but she didn't enjoy it. The HK P7M8 was an excellent fit, at least judging from the target.

I think it was more of a caliber/recoil issue than the physical dimensions, except for the fullsized USP. That was honestly too large for her hands. I think that since she is not especially strong that muscle may influence her preference for 9mm vs. .40 caliber. A guy may not have that same issue, just depends upon the person.

If the purpose is self-defense, look at all of the mid-sized frames, both revolvers and pistols. Stay with 9mm as a baseline, unless the person has very good hand strength. Then just see what works best at the range.

My gf has smallish hands and she can shoot my G19 without a problem.

I'm a guy with small hands, and I'm a single stack guy as well. I hate the baby Glocks, for instance. Too fat.

If you are okay with polymer I would recommend the HK P2000SK. I have the P2000 and it's a great shooter!

I personally love the feel of a s&w m&p 9 w/ medium or small palm swells. 1911 w/ thin grips doesn't feel too shabby either.

I have smaller hands, and have worked well with the Glock compact and sub-compact models, Springfield Armory XD's, and 1911's. I'm sure there are many more out there but those are just some of the guns I have owned that worked well in my hands. The S&W M&P looks interesting with the interchangeable backstraps.
