DW prices started going up well before DW went into the 1911 business. I believe they started 1911 production when CZ acquired them.

You used to be able to get the pistol pacs dirt cheap - $300 for clean ones, no problem. They were part of the collapse of revolver prices back in the day (they were very popular as target pistols before that), and it took longer for them to recover.

After S&W revolver prices started soaring, DW prices recovered as well, and now the great deals are few and far between.

They also made the Sentinel Mk II .357 revolvers for High Standard - essentially the same as a Model 14 or 15, depending on the year. You can still get those pretty cheap, but they're not very common.

They made 1911s even before they were bought out by CZ. You can say they liked DW's 1911s that they bought them out. It's the same DW company though, just a different owner.

I have one of his 10mm long slides. I think it's the most accurate gun I have. Once went 6 for 8 hitting little shoot-n-c dots at 15 yards. (Well, once. Twice probably needs an act of god )

On the other hand I had to send back an RZ10 four times to get it fixed. Nice guys in the service dept, but it wasn't as smooth as you'd like. They eventually replaced the frame, and were nice enough to put the same serial number on it to avoid CA issues.

I like those Fusion 1911 kits. The 2011 6" model in 40 is perfect for USPSA Limited class. Even the 9mm frame kits won't be a bad deal for a semi custom single stack 1911. I'm getting distracted again. I want a 6" DW stainless revolver before that Fusion stuff. Got to stay focus.
