I wont hold my breath, but if I ever see one "I will take it".

This is probably the route I will take.

Well, you can. But you'll be DROS'ing it as a long gun, and you can only import it and do this if the manufacturer HAS NOT paid the FET on it and it was logged by the manufacturer as only a frame/receiver.

You would not, however, be allowed to turn this frame into a handgun though.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I've purchased three 1911 frames since the Roster went into effect. Two are not available in California as complete guns: Caspian and Remsport. The other was a RIA which is available as a complete gun.

From what I know, all three frames were brought into California as frames by individuals living in other states.

For the safe gun handling requirement, I used a complete 1911 not of the same manufacture as the frame I was transferring.

I think I had to buy locks for all three frames. I can't remember. I do have a DOJ approved safe but I don't think it matters for handguns.

Thanks for the help guys. I will just try to find a good deal on an RIA or Springfield and customize it to my liking.

Too much trouble with these frames, or should I say California.

at what point is it considered complete? i was looking into getting one of the kits from fusion and if i could get them a single shot upper they'd be willing to install and ship it. the kits are the frame, slide, barrel, and a few other small parts. theres no fire control group though. therefore would it not be legal to get here in cali. since its not 100% done?
