I'm thinking of picking up a Ruger semi because I want to get back into gun collecting, but don't have alot of cash to start with. Which 9mm offering would you guys recommend from Ruger (not looking at a SR9)

I love Ruger products, but I only have revolvers. Are you not interested in Ruger revolvers? If you must have a semi-auto, how about the Ruger 22lr semi-auto line? The wise man said just find your place

I want to stay with 9mm...about as small as I would want to go for HD. I would prefer a 45 actually, but I have to consider ammo costs.Comment

i bought a p95 when they first came out, never looked back, its not a high volume shooter, its my bedside gun, 2000 or so rounds, ive never had a problem, i use range reloads, winchester whitebox, any 9mm i find on sale and it has always done its number 1 job and thats to go bang when i pull the trigger. easy to take down and clean, and as ashamed as i am to say it, i once shot about a hundred rounds through it, took it home and forgot to strip it, 2 years later, took it out, shot another couple hundred rounds through it, stripped it, cleaned it and zero problems.
for the price point, you cant beat it. ive heard some horror stories about ruger customer service, but ive never had to work with them, so i couldnt say.

Ruger P89 and P95 guns in 9mm are robust and reliable.
It's unclear why they aren't "hip & cool" like Glocks & Sigs, because they're equivalent in reliability and durability.
