Try both. The one that feels better for you is the one you should get. The "deal breaker" for me and the Glocks are the lack of a safety (ask Plexico Burris about that one). People talk about the extra time and effort associated with a manual safety for when “TSHTF” like it is happening every day and they are walking around their house 24/7 with a loaded gun ready to shoot the bad guy.

If they make a G19 size version of the SR9, I am game. Since the SR9 is fairly new product, I will wait until all the kinks and bugs are corrected. I held the SR9 and it has better backstrap contour than Glock.

Still, I will never let go of my Glock 19 as it's a proven performer and I can get parts and services.

My Glock17 gets very little love since I got my SR9. The Glock has a nicer, cleaner trigger break to be sure, but I like almost everything else better about the SR9. Not a single malf of any kind with about 2k rounds through it so far ... eats everything I feed it, goes bang with every press, accurate as you wanna be ... my fave for sure.

The only way I'd buy a Ruger SR9 is if I already had a Glock 17. NEVER the other way around. My two cents.

Asking Plexico Burris for football advice makes sense. Asking him about gun safety is like asking him for legal advice.

You will get recalls from Ruger. Get a Glock!

With the amount of recalls on Ruger semi-autos lately, I think I would have to vote for the tried, and true Glock 17.

So true. I'd take a Glock any day of the week over a Ruger. Never saw the need for safety on a DA pistol like a glock. Keep your finger off the trigger and you don't ever need one. I don't see people rushing out to buy a revolver with a safety switch. If you don't trust yourself maybe you need more training. Its locked into my brain. I can't even pick up a glass of milk without my trigger finger extended out. You should all know that safeties should not be trusted any ways.

The day I buy ruger is the day they fight and get me back my pistol grips and normal cap mags.

as far as i know ruger had a recall on the LCP and SR9 for the same issue and both have been corrected

For me, I would go with the Ruger SR-9.

If it were me, I would get a Glock. I am certain that hardly anyone has regretted the purchase of a Glock 17. For the SR9 to take the market, it should be priced lower. Its main competitor has too much to offer at a similar price. I just cant make sense out of getting a Ruger when I could get a Glock. Seriously.
Nothing against Ruger though. I think the P95 is well priced and a solid purchase, as is the LCP (were it available to us). The mini14 is great if it comes back down to $550 price range. But SR9 v G17...cmon

I like my Glocks and I like my Ruger. My thing is if the other designs are so good, why do they always copy Glock?
I have a buddy who says Glocks are garbage. He has a Walther, so when you field strip the 2 guns. It's amazing, they field strip almost the exact same way.
You look at the frames, wow amazingly similar...again.
Untill a company comes up with an entirly new design , IMO they are all knock offs, striker fired ploymer framed handguns that all copy the Glock.

The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

the only thing that ruger copied from the glock on the sr-9 is the "safe action trigger" after the recall ruger did their version of glocks trigger safety
