    My fighting 1911...ongoing project.

Well I just got my SA 1911 back from Tabors and I like it so far. I still plan to have more gunsmithing done to it but for now it's good enough.

    Before..

    And after..

How did you get your grips so black? I bought a pair like that and they are really gray. I've washed them and scrubbed them, but they still look gray. The package they came in said black and it looks like they have potential to be so.

Nice gun, btw, she's a beaut!

Hmmm..I didn't do anything to the grips to get them that black. I would have to say that the color is off black.

Internally the only thing that was done was fitting with the sear and hammer. Frank also had to do some fitting with the trigger. Now the pistol has a trigger pull of about 3.5 pounds. Frank said with time the trigger pull will really smooth out.

Looks nice! But the back of the extractor sticking out is making my eye twitch . Are you going to get the front strap golf balled to match the msh and grips down the road?

I'm not sure if I'll do anything to the front strap. As of right now the aftermarket grips and MSH give plenty of bite.

As far as I know the gunsmith did not do any sanding on the grips. The aftermarket hammer is a Koenig standard low mass hammer.

I forgot to say how nice your 1911 is...I use one for a combat/training as well. They work great and I have never had any fail issues as some say they are prone to.

                          Nice piece!
