I have and carry a Glock 27 as my main CCW weapon.....I carry it everyday.
I love it....it is also 100% reliable with Glock 27 mags.
Now....I also tried real hard to stay away from the baby glocks, just because I didn't like how it felt i my hand at first. But I got used to it....and it became very natural over time.
I don't use any extension...but I only have med sized hands. I do have some of my old glock 23 13rd mags with mag extensions on them. It feels even better in the hand like that....but side pressure on the extended 13rd mags seems to somewhat affect the pistols reliability. So I only use those for plinking and range play.
Plus, for CCW, I carry it in a kramer (leather) pocket holster in the front pocket of my jeans (I wear the "loose" version of the Anchor blue (millers-outpost) jeans). And even in the front pocket of my cargo style shorts in the summer....
I carry mine EVERYDAY like this...it works out great. I am looking for a good IWB holster for this pistol though.....(if someone has any ideas...let me know).
I also added a 3.5 lbs trigger connector....that improved the trigger 100% and cut my groups sizes in-half (seriously....and I'm a pretty good shot). -
I carry one, but get the Glock Factory extensions. Much better than any aftermarket grip extensions. I like the gun OK. I'm not a huge Glock fan, but I've never ever ever had a problem with the Glock, and it shoots quite well. So hmm... In that case I guess I am kind of a fan.
Unless you already have a ccw, I would discourage getting it for your first pistol. Fundamentals will be much easier to learn on the compact or full size. As is their inherent nature, the babies tend to bark a little more than their larger siblings.
But hey, it's your money, and it's a Glock. You won't have a problem with it.Comment

A local shop here in Sac (Wild Sports) has them (NIB) advertised for $469.99.Originally posted by DedEyeHow much should I expect to pay for a brand new one or a used one?Comment

I have one and like it a lot. I carry in my front pocket most of the time but every now and then I slap on the leather OWB holster. I picked mine up used (but in GREAT shape) for around $500. Came with grip extenders and Trij night sights. Price was inflated by local shop but that was ok, I like supporting them. IMO the best thing you can add to a baby glock are GAP finger rest extensions. They feel great and do a nice job of keeping the gun in your hand without adding size."Calling an illegal alien a "undocumented worker" is like calling the drug dealer hanging around outside your kid's school an "unlicensed pharmacist."Comment

I don't have a 27, but i do have a 26. It's a great gun: reliable, compact, good accuracy for being so small. I'm sure the 27 is just as good. .40 probably has a little more snap. That plus Glocks are easy to maintain, clean, many aftermarket parts and accessories at very reasonable prices. Once you learn the action/trigger,maintainance of one glock you know them all. Only difference is sizes and calibers. By the way here's a video of a German antiterrorist unit that might make you want to buy a full sized Glock:

No 27 but I do have a G36 slimline. Great little gun with the packing power of the .45acp. It's a little slimmer than the 26-27 but the slide is longer. It is a great gun for CCW with the right holster choice and belt of course. My other magazine has the +1 Pearce but it makes the grip length quite a bit longer.
I'm a small guy, 5'6" & 145lbs, and the G36 conceals and carries comfortably. I shoot it quite well also and it has functioned flawlessly.Comment

I'm a little surprised that you'd want a subcompact as your first handgun. Nothing really wrong with this, but it might be easier to learn how to shoot handguns on a larger frame. Just my humble opinion.Originally posted by DedEyeI want to get a Glock 27 for my first pistol. Anyone have one/used one? I also plan on getting the one round extension for the magazine that also acts as a pinkie grip.
I'll also be getting full size and mid size pistols later, but I want the first pistol I get to be nice and small for easy concealed carry (if/when I get a CCW).

I have a Glock 26 which the wife covets. Fun too shoot and just as reliable as my other Glocks.
I have to agree with Turbinator. I would suggest going with a full size or compact Glock (22 or 23) for your first handgun since you will have better accuracy and control but if you have experience shooting all frame sizes get what you like.Comment

I have a Glock 27 and I wouldn't say that I love it, but it is a good gun. Recoil isn't that bad even without the grip extenders. For CCW it is a hard gun to beat.sigpicIf you loan someone twenty dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I use the Glock 27 as my back-up weapon and my off duty weapon. I have shot thousands of round through it and have had no problem.Comment

I don't have a Glock 27, but I carry a Glock 26 as my work back-up. It runs awesome, small compact, and I have been carrying it more instead of my primary gun, a Glock 19. The 19 goes in my briefcase, and I don't use it unless I am doing a operation such as a raid. When that happens, the Glock 26 goes in a ankle holster for back-up.
I usually carry the Gloack 26 in a Galco Summer Classic IWB holster, and sometimes I forget that I have it on me. If this is your first handgun, I have to agree with some on this post and either get the full-size or mid-siz Glock (or maybe a 9mm to enjoy the gun a little bit more). The whole thing is to get comfortable with your gun, and the more you shoot, the more you will feel comfortable. If you get a Glock 27, the recoil is a bit much and you might not like it.Comment

+1 You may find the 27 a bit of a handful for a first gun. Recoil is more stout than that of a 22 or 23 (or for that matter a 26, 19, 17).
If you can, go to an range and rent a mix of the above mention to get an idea on the controllability of sub-compact vs. larger.
If you must get only one sub-compact in the near term, I'd suggest the 26. A lot less recoil and cheaper to shoot...
For a first gun, (w/ potential for future CCW use) I'd recommend going with a 19 or 23. Much easier to learn how to shoot with and very doable for CCW with the right rig.
Much easier to build up your skills on the compacts or larger, then later, transition to the sub-compacts.Comment
