im trying to find budget range/field guns to keep some of the miles off my hk. the hk rides under my pillow at night next to my surefire, with a round chambered and the hammer down. first pull is da, then the double tap and follow-up come quick and easy. i have put thousands of rounds into my da/sa technique for defensive shooting, and just want something to emulate my hk. heck, i might just end up getting another one. it would certainly help to kep my shooting consistent. but id rather buy 2 or three lower priced handguns over the next few months, with interchangeable mags and parts, so i can have a good stash for the zombie apocalypse.
i understand where youre coming from on the hd legality issues... but id personally rather win against the guy trying to kill me and let the jury handle the rest, rather than handicap myself and possibly lose the initial conflict. thanks for the insight!

I would not hesitate to recommend one, and then just save up for a trigger job to get rid of some of the weight and creep.
thanks for a great reply! good info! thanks for reading my original post.

well, just to update you all, as i am quite certain that you were terribly worried about my final decision, i went to put some in my hands. i really liked the fn fnp, also the sigpro was really nice but just a bit too spendy.

i wound up with a sig 228. i know, i know... its not polymer, but they made me an offer i couldnt refuse. it was $550, and the trigger on it was beautiful. low round count, it looked like to me, and tritium night sights. awesome. thanks for all the replies!

            Taurus - "Affordable Quality"

In my experience, they live up to that motto. My current favorite handgun is still my PT145Pro, and it was only 350 bucks.

CZ P07 Duty, SIG2022, and FNP-9 have my votes. Of the three, the SIG is probably the best value. Great trigger, good capacity, factory night sights, and a rail.

Taurus 24/7 Pro DS is an interested choice. It is a striker fired polymer pistol but it has a double action second pull on the trigger. It is not a DA/SA per se because it is striker fired. However, you can use it just like a DA/SA pistol as it has a decocker mechanism and the second chance pull on the trigger will act just like a hammer fired pistol. They are great guns for the price (around $400 NIB). Just make sure you get the model with the DS (decocker safety) designation to give you the feature that you want.

The OP wants a DA/SA polymer pistol.
So, all striker fired pistols are out (No S&W M&P, S&W Sigma, Glock, Walther P99).

Check out the FN FNP series and Ruger P series.

Nice. I think I'd pass up what you originally wanted for this too.

Read post #23. It is a striker fired pistol that is DA/SA with a decocker (Taurus 24/7 PRO DS). Right in his price range and fits his descriptions. The only thing you cant do is pull back the hammer.
