    budget polymer handguns...

quick question, please bear with me. Im on my cell phone, so searching dpesnt work so well... Im looking to get a couple budget 9mm handguns. Best value (accuracy,durability,cost.. Not just the cheapest) would be which? Fnp? M&p? Other polymer handguns i dont know about? Or save up for 92's, and skip the poly? Thanks for your replies to a query thats been addressed a million times already... I prefer a da/sa, as opposed to a ''safe action'' so please let me know if any of the polymer guns have dao standard. Thats why im not getting glocks.. My rhodesians are all over the county with dao's.... I think the fnp9 has a hammer, so im leaning that way already.. Ive already got an hk, so i dont need an 800dollar 9mm. Thanks, y'all!!!

What do you consider "budget"? FNP, M&P, Glocks, all go for about $400-500. Sigma's are $250 right now from Bud's.

I shot over 20 guns before I chose my first polymer. I shot all of the big brands plus some smaller ones.

I chose M&P due to Comfort, Accuracy, Reliability, Easy to Shoot, and S&W customer support.

I started with one, now I have 3.

Go shoot as many as you can. That's the only way you can pick what is right for you!

did you even read my original post?

for those of you paying attention, "budget" is <$600... hopefuly in the $400 range... a light second trigger pull is a must. thanks for the replies so far! sorry for that double post, my phone is about to be thrown against a block wall.

MP......I have 2 and they are very reliable...ergonomically superior to other pistols in the same category...and they come with great CS.

never heard of a cw9. how is the trigger?

and as far as the m&p, are they hammered? as in da/sa? that is a deal breaker. gotta have single action. cant deal with heavy trigger pull all the time.. it kills my skills... lol im a poet and didnt know it! i developed my handgun skills with a s&w 410, then a 1911, then a usp compact, so i guess im kinda spoiled...

It seems you're looking for a DA/SA type trigger since you mentioned a lighter 2nd pull.

Both Glock, M&P, and XD are excellent shooters, but they're the same trigger throughout the magazine.

What I think would be a fitting gun, would be the SIG P2022. Underrated, DA/SA with a very smooth DA trigger, and it can be found for under $500 from online vendors. TGS is a great start.

No...the MP is a striker fired pistol. I would rate the trigger pull as awesome. They tend to be a bit gritty when brand new....but they smoothe out after about 100 rounds. Im guessing trigger pull to be in the 5-6 pound range....perfect for its purpose.

thanks folks, ill give the m&p a try, but i dont think im gonna like it. my glock had a 5# pull, and although it shot awesome, it was just too heavy to make figure eights. at least for me, but im notthat good. the sig sounds like a good deal if i can get it into my hands cheap... nobody shooting the fnp yet? i am out of the loop on these new handguns... there seems to be a new one every month. gotta make a list and head to project 2000, see what they got over there... thanks again, and feel free to keep the suggestions coming!!

Hey...Im all about a light trigger....but for self defense and HD purposes....having a little bit of pull is good insurance. My 1911 has about a 3- 3 1/2 lb pull...and that is just a little too light for a nightstand gun....IMO.

Its all on what you want.

The MP has awesome ergonomics....the slide rides low in the hand which helps IMO with perceived recoil and muzzle rise....they have three different size palm inserts for small medium and large hands....plus...like I said...S&W has a no BS CS department.

The FNP's are VERY underrated guns. You don't see a lot of talk about them, but they are great guns. They have a real hammer, no safe-action stuff.

They do, unfortunately, have terrible triggers, but they are VERY shootable. Quite accurate for the trigger, and they have some kind of magical recoil-reduction system built in.

I would not hesitate to recommend one, and then just save up for a trigger job to get rid of some of the weight and creep.
