I pick a new SS Dan Wesson PM-7 this Wednesday, and I am really looking forward to it. But was only a little over $1k.

If it was me looking in your price range, I would be looking at Les Baer or Ed Brown...

Glad your won your case, Bill! Congrats!

      Sooo...what's next after the 1911? The M1 Garand? A tacticool AR-15?

I'll live vicariously thru your next purchases.

Btw, do take Rich (Black Majik) up on his Les Baer offer. After shooting his, I ended up w/ one as well.

Per the atty.'s secretary, he and the county counsel are working out how much each of will get in a retroactive check and how much our monthly pension check will go up, so I really don't know how much I'm getting.

Hopefully, a really nice 1911 like discussed here, a M1 Garand, a M1 Carbine, perhaps a gas piston Ar or just a better grade of AR than I just bought and few thousand rounds of AR and 7.62x39 ammo. I'll have to get a decent optic for the new and present AR also of course.

I do intend to take him up on his offer Bam Bam. Vicariously living is okay, but I'd let you watch me shoot them if you want to. Can't get more vicarious than that. Nah, I'd let you shoot them.

If you want checkering and adjustable sights, the Les Baer Premier II would fit that bill and are under $2k. If you don't want checkering, get the Concept I, which is slightly less expensive than the Premier. As for things like ambi safeties, those can always be added later for not much money.

Adding checkering is expensive, getting an external extractor can't be done without buying a new slide, and beavertails and skeletonized hammers should be installed and tuned by a gunsmith, so these features should be bought with the gun. Safeties, guide rods, sights, etc are either drop-in or are inexpensive to install, so worry about those later.
