    They were a turnoff for our GI's in WWII also....the sights that is. They loved the gun...hated the sights.

      I have a SA Milspec that I bought from another leo who lives in Mo. He and I are both on xdtalk.com. I've had the gun for 2yrs. and it is fantastic!.

      He replaced the plastic pins with GI metal ones and ended up with a new barrel from SA since the original one was defective. When he first shot it, he saw a bulge in the barrel. SA didn't give him just a OEM replacement; they gave him a TRP SS barrel.

      It is a much better shooter than I am. It has a lower ejection port than the GI model also and is parkerized.
