The original Norma load of a 200 gr bullet @ 1200 fps cracked many a 1911 frame/slide.

My gun has shot tens of thousands of the original Norma spec handloads (200gr JHP at 1200fps is my carry load) in my gun without incident.

There are some cast bullets available to 220 gr. That too would likely require a Revolver (S&W 610 6.5").

Why would they require a revolver? Because of bullet weight?

Grams Engineering makes an extension. 20 rounds at my disposal is pretty nifty.

If I carry five to the line, that's an entire meter of high speed goodness.

The 10mm is one of the most versatile rounds available. You can load it real lite and get sub .40 performance. Or go heavy and get something right up next to a .44 Magnum. All out of the same gun with no modifications.

If you go the Glock route there's a ton of barrels so you can shoot .40's from the gun which is the same as a "lite" 10mm. It's cheaper than the 10mm, same caliber, just a little shorter.

Also, if you're reloading, the 10mm isn't any more expensive than a .40.

If I was hunting I would use a 10mm if a handgun was the tool. If I was hunting, the 10mm would be my sidearm of choice. When concealment isn't needed, 10mm is my sidearm of choice.

Hell, I even shoot tactical shoots with my 10mm..

That's a bit of an exaggeration. "Somewhere between the .357 and .41 Magnum" is more accurate. The .44 magnum is in an entirely different power class.

Also, the upper limit of 10mm power isn't really achievable in an autoloader... the need for proper feeding restricts the bullet profiles that can be used, and the fact that cartridge energy goes into the action restricts the ultimate velocity that can be safely achieved. But that's more of a platform issue than a cartridge issue. The cartridge is probably more versatile than most of the guns that shoot it.

As reluctant as I am to say anything which does not glorify my beloved favorite HG round, I'd have to agree. The 44MAG is just on a whole other level, power-wise. Even the strongest-framed 1911 or large-framed Glock would almost immediately crumble under the pressure and recoil of a standard 44 load.

I said 10mm was a bad choice, to expensive to shoot on regular basis compared to 40 or 45.

If you reload, 10mm costs the same and sometimes less than .45 to shoot.

#9 lit by a CCI350. My personal 10mm ammunition is operating at original Norma pressure of 42,500psi. SAAMI is only 37,500psi. For this reason, I don't share charge weight.

That's one Dirty, Dead-as-a-Doornail PIG!!! I have the opportunity to go hog-bombing in the near future. I may just take along my G20 (or my Delta) along with my 200g 1300fps. 'Norma+' rounds. I'd like to see what a headshot would be like. Definitely the most humane kill because of the instantaneous nature of the destruction (plus, NO meat damage!).

You can get a 40 conversion barrel for the 10mm Glock and it will even use the same mags. The case is the same diameter so the extractor lines up correctly too.

Can you do the reverse? Use a 10mm barrel on a .40 (g35)?

Doubletapammo sells a 200gr JHP that supposedly clocks right around 1250fps if you are interested. Not as cheap as doing it yourself, but they make super super high quality ammo.

No. Different frames. A G20 mag won't fit in the 9/40 frame.

I recently pushed a 180 pretty hard, over 1400 fps with Blue Dot. I was pretty nervous shooting that. I'll have to get some 200's and some #9 and give it a shot. So to speak.
