    Letter from Cabelas

Hey all, I just received this email from Cabela's. It reads:

We encourage all Cabela's customers who participate in the shooting sports to contact Gov. Schwarzenegger to voice their opposition to this initiative, which will limit your opportunities to shop with Cabela's, and will restrict the sale of handgun ammunition everywhere in California.
Nice to see a company without a retail location in the state yet helping to spread the word in the awareness campaign. Sorry to the mods if this is posted in the wrong forum.

The lack of a retail location in the state is probably precisely why they're spreading the word - if AB962 goes through, they stand to lose all of their internet orders to California. Sure, they have retail locations just over the border in Nevada, but making the trip for ammo isn't a feasible trek for enough Californians that Cabela's would actually be able to recoup the loss.

Glad to see them sending that out. The will lose a lot of business if this is not vetoed.

Sure Cabela's is looking out for themselves, any retailer would, but the reason stated I do not think is correct.

If that were the case, then why wouldn't they already have an outlet in this State?

I think that Cabela's is upstanding enough to let Californians know what the issue is and how to go about helping our cause.

How many other retailer's have sent a letter such as this? I have heard of zero.

Don't be too quick to point the commercial finger at a retailer simply because they seem to be in it for their own.

I too have been a long time customer of Cabela's. It doesn't surprise me that they haven't taken the plunge into an actual store in California. Way too many hassles, with more than just firearms and ammo.

Very encouraging to see them stepping up on this. Haven't seen anything similar from Midway yet.

I've already spread the word regarding this move to disarm us law-abiding citizens to everyone I know.

I'm going to forward it again.

Would everyone please join again in an email campaign and follow up with phone calls and emails to the Governer?

Personally I think we'd do better sending real mail instead of e-mails. E-mail is one mouse click away from getting deleted... physical mail at least takes up space and is more visible. A bag of 1,000 letters is much more noticeable than 1000 e-mails on a staffers computer.

Red I see your point but to be completely honest, either one is easily dismissed. I doubt that Arni or anyone else for that matter really gives a big rats butt about it. It will be decided by who ever wields the most power in Arni's mind. I hope I am so unbelievable wrong an he is paying attention to us but I won't hold me breath. That said I am off to make more phone calls regardless of the out come.
