Last time I bought a handgun in Cali. was several years ago, 1999 I think. I was able to purchase it by showing my hunting license as proof of taking a firearms safety course.

I heard today that a hunting license is no longer enough...what do I need now if I want to buy?

A valid Calif. Id or CDL. For handguns you will also need a HSC card. The HSC Card is not needed for long guns. You are also limited to one hand gun purchase every 30 days but there are some exceptions to that rule.

Read the study guide once. Note the approximately 2 odd-but-politically-correct assertions - those will be test questions.

Answer the 25 (I think) multiple choice questions using common sense and your special remembering the odd-but-politically-correct assertions; receive your score of 100% correct.

Wonder who could possibly fail this. Wonder what good it is supposed to do. Consider the awful concept that some people actually might fail this, even without extreme test anxiety or a number of other legitimate reasons.

Don't forget to take your HSC with you.

I think you can purcahse unlimited number of guns at any time, but you can only DROS a gun once every 30 days.

I purchased a Kimber team match on July 14th, and now have to wait to DROS my Wilson Tac Elite on August 15th.

Regarding # of purchases... IIRC, generally speaking:

Longguns: No limit.
Handguns: Dealer transfer, 1 every 30 days. PPT, no limit.

There are other exceptions to handgun dealer sale limit (e.g. consecutive serial numbered guns).

Note also I believe there are some Federal disclosure issues your FFL will have if you transfer a bunch of handguns.
