    Kings

Anyone here ever have work done at Kings? I want them to install some of their 3 dot sights. Any idea on how long it will take? I sent them an email but it came back with some weird spam thing. I also noticed their price list hasn't been updated since '98. So I'm wondering how much the prices have changed because their sights are like $32 and if I read it correctly installation on them was $40.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Best to give them a call. What they said would take two weeks ended up taking six. I had them work on a 1911. This was when one of their gunsmiths was ill. I heard that he might have retired or passed away...

I'll call them tomorrow. If it's going to take 6 weeks maybe I'll just bone out $270 for the Novak's that I want or maybe just buy a new 1911

I had some sights installed on my 1911 about a year ago. It was about $110.00 total and they took approximately 2 weeks. The sights are awesome though!

I have used Kings numerous times for various types of work. Regardless of the type of work it does usually take longer than estimated but the quality of the work is always good.

If they need to machine your slide to fit their new sights expect at least $100 in labor. I had a 1911 done with their night sights about a year ago and that was about what they charged to make the fit. The night sights from them are great.

I'm hoping they don't have to machine anything. The front sight is to be staked....we'll see....I really want the loaded 1911 to go with my loaded M1A.............hmmm...............I wish I had an unlimited toy fund because then I wouldn't be asking this question

In the last year they have lost two smiths, so they are now down to one I belive.

The quality of work is second to none!!

Many of the smiths working around the country got their start at Kings.

Al Copone did pass away in the last year or two and Phil has moved away that leaves Bill Capone to do the work. It might take some time but it will be perfect.

As an example, if you have them install a set of Bo Mars you'll throw rocks at what Kimber, SVI, SA and all the others do. So much better workmanship.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

While they are good, my recommendation would be to give Jim Hoag a call. He's across the Valley in Canoga Park, but it's worth the drive. He is a living legend in the 1911 world.

Yes Jim is a bit of a legend. He got his start from Kings.

Since you are in the South Bay, you may want to contact Alan Tanaka, he is in Gardena

I'm sure they do good work but I have found them to be arrogant and rude. I took an Argentine Hi Power to them to replace the front sight, the response was that they didn't work on low quality guns like that one. No need to insult me they could've just said that it wasn't their type of gun to work on. Recently I was there when they offered an old gentleman $50 for a Colt Officers Model HB .38; told him it was broken. There was nothing wrong with the gun. He walked and I bought it from him. We did the transfer at Turner's in Pasadena. It was a blatent attempt to take advantage of a person who knew nothing about guns.

I've has a couple of simple jobs done at Kings. Didn't take too long and the work was well done. Sometimes the guys at the counter may appear opinionated and arrogant, but the gunsmith has always taken time to answer my questions if he wasn't swamped. Before he passed away, I would chat with Al if he was working the counter.
