IMO, a P220 is NOT a compact .45. It's only retreat from a full size 220 is a bit of length off the barrel. What's your intended use for this pistol? I know you don't want other recommendations, but there's far better options for a truly compact .45 than both of these. I've owned a 220 Carry and have fondled a G30 several times. The 220 is a nice shooting pistol but is a full size pistol. The G30 feels like crap to my hands, but that's just my opinion which is what you're asking for.

If I was going for a sub-compact and in .45 I would go with a 36. If I was going for a sub-compact not in a .45 then I would go with a 29SF. Personally, I like the compacts much better than the sub-compacts. What about the 23?

I'm not a Sig person myself. They're accurate, but I don't like shooting them. I've enjoyed the G19 much more than any other gun lately.

          I have a Sig 245 (pretty much the 220 carry's earlier incarnation, a 6+1 pistol) and a G30. (Not the SF).

I like Glocks a lot. I shoot the Sig better.

I also find my G30 (factory) mags really want to be 9s rather than 10s - failure to seat properly with 10. Since I don't have that problem with my other Glocks, I'm pretty sure it isn't operator error.

Not a lot of difference between 8+1 and 9+1; assuming you carry a reload, that's 17 compared to 19 (or 21 if you get 10 in your Glock mags). I'd think if I couldn't get myself out of the situation with 17, another 4 wouldn't be decisive.

I enjoy Sigs (Have TOO MANY).. I enjoy HK's (Have not as many). But for 10 Rounds of 45 ACP, the G30 is an excellent choice!

Here's a few thoughts for this from personal experience: XD45c (not very concealable, but more so than the G30 or 220C) is an excellent choice. I much prefer these to any Glock and even to SIG (owned 4 220's and stuck with the XD45c). Ergonomic and reliable with a 10 round capacity and don't feel bad using it as a beater. G36 is slimmer than a G30, although at the cost of capacity. Seriously, compared to the G30 or 36, the XD45c is a winner in my book although your mileage may differ. A tryout session should be enough to sway you either way as they're quite different. Another great option is the Kahr P45. I own one of these for the woods gun and it's awesome. Crazy small and light for a .45 while retaining great handling characteristics and great trigger. A bit harder to be hand, but they're available if you look around. 6+1 rounds plus an extra mag is plenty for the woods.

I own Glock 30 and recommend it. This is my favorite .45 for SD/HD. Its pros are accuracy, weight, reliability and size to capacity ratio.

The 220 Carry is not compact. It has .5" lopped off the barrel. I had one and it was a great shooter although I prefer my older model full size 220.

                    Rationale for Sig P220 Carry?

I have a P220 (regular size) but not the P220 carry. I am somewhat puzzled by the rationale for the P220 carry since it only differs from the P220 in half an inch of barrel/slide length, yet retains the same grip dimensions. If you have ever holstered the P220, it is the long grip and magazine bumper that is likely to print on cover garments, not the barrel or slide.

I would think the Sig P245 would be a more concealable version of the P220, with a shortened barrel/slide as well as a shorter grip. Of course the P245 has been discontinued and replaced with the P220 compact (not on the CA list). But many P245s are still available in nearly new condition. (The one below is not mine.)

I prefer the G30, SF or standard.

Here is another vote for the Glock 30sf! It's my daily carry gun and with a good belt, you hardly know it's there.

Sorry for having to input a different weapon despite you saying you aren't interested...but if you are looking for a possible backwoods defense handgun, I would consider a G29 since you say you like Glocks. I have one and love it, and it is dimensionally almost identical to the 30. An SF model of 29 is out now as well. 10mm has quite a bit more punch than .45 ACP does.

                            Go with the G30SF.
As much as I like the SIG P220, I also cannot see the rationale of the SIG P220 Carry: It's only a SIG P220 with shorter barrel and slide; just for that, I'd rather have a full size P220.
