Compact light suggestions

Hi folks,

What are your favorite lights for compact pistol rail mount? This will go on a G19 for CCW (not meaning to spark and extensive debate on the pros and cons of a light on your CCW...of course you should have a handheld light too). I do love my x300 on the glock 19, but looking for something smaller as an alternative. I do have a surefire xc1-b that I'm lukewarm on. I shot my first one to hell so much it kept going out during firing or would blink on during recoil while it was turned off....kind of like a shot strobe lol. Surefire sent me a brand new one to replace that defective unit....that was impressive considering my old light was heavily used and beat up. They sent me a new one, no questions asked. (Hell, surefire even sent me a new tailswitch for a pre-LED era E2D defender at no cost or questions asked).

I'm looking at Nightstick 550XL, Streamlight TRL 7A, or maybe others like the smaller OLights. What are your preferences?

I also would like one for a G33 (Streamlight TLR6? anything else?)

I run the tlr 7 and it’s ok. It works but I don’t love the controls. Actually dislike the x300 controls, too short and stiff.

Why are you using a baby light? I run a tlr 1. If I got time for a light I want something bright with battery life. Conceals the same.

And olight is crap, propped up by a bunch of paid youtoubers.

Figure out what you THINK you want and then make sure you can find a holster for it BEFORE you buy the light.

There are tons of good lights out there. But once you get beyond Surefire and a couple of Streamlights, holsters get pretty scarce pretty quick.

Olight are perfect on my HK and SIGs. Very bright, USB rechargeable, easy controls.

TLR-8AG on my ccw G19 has over 3k rds through it and still runs. Never had a problem with it. Mine has the laser but I can’t imagine that just the light version TLR-7A wouldn’t be just as good.

I have a couple of Tenicor light bearing holsters on the way. And they both accommodate some of the common smaller lights. I already have a couple of holsters that accommodate my x300, but they?re aren?t so concealable.

I think olight makes a compact weapon light from what I remember

I like the Olight Valkyrie Mini and Baldr Mini, but your holster options will be limited. If you need a holster, it's easier to find one that fits Surefire or Streamlight.

Tlr7a on my 19.

Tlr7-a. Have a few and never had any problems. Prefer and x300 but not in appendix.

For holster compatibility, it would be best to go with a TLR-7 (I prefer the "a" switch), TLR-1 HL, or sticking with the x300.

You already have the cream of the crop with the x300. I think you are better off with that or upgrading to a turbo.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life. I've had Olight PL Mini Valkyries on most of my pistols for years and PL Pro's on my shotguns. Never had a single issue through thousands of rounds and a dozen highly physical training weekends. I also have a bunch of their EDC lights, and really like them. Olight rustles up the purists who won't accept any light that doesn't cost as much as a pistol itself, but they're a great company. Highly recommended from a shooter who trains regularly.

Sure some of them work but they get hosed in testing. Lots of YouTubers have started coming out and being honest about pressure they get from olight. Believe whatever you want but I shy away from companies that demand biased reviews. I don’t enjoy spending extra money but it’s worth it for a self defense light. I wouldn’t hesitate to use one of their lights as an extra for the truck. I’m not even super impressed with Surefire. I think they’re overrated. I find streamlight to be the sweet spot for value and quality.
