I have a Kimber and a Colllt .45 and a Springfield 1911 9mm they all shoot fine. But I think the Kimber Swartz Safety is even dumber than the Colt series 80. Both are solutions to imaginary problems. Pre series 80 was just fine. Brownells used to sell a filer for the Series 80 frame. Wasn't a catalogue item you had to ask for it. Didn't notice much difference after installing. Butt I'm old and shaky

      Kimber 1911 45

Mine is a standard Government model 1911 45acp. I already have a Colt Commander in 45 ACP. I handle the new one a lot while I'm on the computer to get use to the weight. It's been 36 years sense I handled a full size.

I don't consider them high end. Lots of other 1911s that are really nice for half the cost. I honestly think Tisas 1911s run better and are a much better value at only $400 ish bucks. Lots of cool models they offer and with the money saved you can buy ammo or some upgrades/accesories
          Only 500 rounds, thats odd.

Does that occur with different brands/styles of ammunition? I have seen that happen more often when using Russian steel-cased ball. I have a Glock 19 of all things, that is good for about 100 rounds before I have to run a brush in the chamber. Have not run very much steel-cased stuff through a Kimber, but have run a ton of it through several SA 1911s, all without issue. My favorite garbage disposal is an old G21 (Gen 2) that eats stuff I won?t let sit on the same shelf as a premium 1911. That clunker has even cycled cast round-ball loads when the case necks have been intentionally distorted enough to make them feed.

I have the Kimber Custom TLE/RL II which I purchase last year. Have a little over 1k rounds with no issues.

Seems to me just from reading threads on message boards for all these years I get the impression that the more basic Kimber model 1911's are better and/or more well liked than the more expensive models.
I owned a Kimber Raptor Gov size in the black oxide for a few years. Interesting and unique machining on it but overal I didn't like it and sold it at a marginal loss.
They sure sell a lot of them- they must be doing something right.

I own three Kimbers, newest one is a 9mm Target (adjustable rear sight), and a couple in .45 ACP, I think they are Custom Classics, all three run great. My only complaint with Kimber is that they use an odd Beavertail Safety that does not fit my hand good. I've previously owned a lightweight Officer that kicked like a mule, and a stainless Commander that shot a little low for me, but all would feed ball ammo 100%.

Sportsmans Wherehouse had them on sale here in Jax Florida for$669.00. I ran right down there and bought one. Three days later I took it to the range and fell in love with it. Good buy I must say. Before the range trip I took it apart to grease the rails and the thing was so tight I had trouble getting it back together again. Love it
That's a good buy. Keep the rest of the money, enjoy your Kimber as is and then down the road, you could send it to Wilson Combat for some " massaging " if you like. Upgrade small parts, different sight, refinish, etc.
