    SD9VE Readdition

I had a random thought go through my head.

If the microstamping provision has been temporarily removed from roster requirements, wouldn't it be possible to get the SD9 VE back on the roster?

I don't know if the SD9VE has a mag disconnect and LCI in its non-roster version but just wondering if anyone had any insight into this?

I had no idea it was off roster. The 40 caliber is still on roster. That?s a pretty nice gun too.

Well it is rather inexpensive and if it is grandfathered in again with its newer manufacturing process the it would be a win. The sd9s were a good seller for ca residents when they were on roster

I always wondered why they dropped the 9mm but kept the .40 version?
I can’t wait until the original Sigma is a collectors item

I think it's a great entry level gun. I'd love to see it back on roster. I know for sure it already had a mag disconnect, pretty sure I remember it having a CLI

SD9VE does have a mag disconnect and a LCI. I remember reading it somewhere that S&W changed a component supplier for SD9VE so California DOJ removed it from the roster, while SD40VE has not changed anything.

Partly because I think it may be a good business decision for SW but also for pro-2a reasons in CA.

With CA being a relatively large market and there being a time stamp for modern firearms to be placed on the roster, it would make sense for any firearm manufacturer to get as many firearms allowed onto the roster. By the time the microstamping requirement comes in to effect those firearms should be grandfathered in. Of course this is assuming that CA still doesn't enforce their for every 1 added, 3 are removed rule.

Of course, I think there are better firearms out there but the budget category is one area that SW can take advantage of and one that I can see anyone regardless of income level appreciating immensely.

Correct, which means S&W would have to pay to have it tested again. My guess is they will probably pass on this and work on new designs. This gun has been out for a while, who knows how much longer they'll keep it in their line up.
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I've got a buddy who is contact with S&W's rep. If I hear the rep is in the area, I'd be happy to pass along that feedback.

It was removed because they changed the design of the gun slightly. They told CALDOJ and it was removed, but they also told CALDOJ the .40 was also re-designed but it was not removed for some reason.

Those are an excellent entry-level firearm. Much better than the FMK. I owned both, I know.. If I was looking for a basic firearm, I would definitely consider the Smith and Wesson.
