    dead/dim night sights

What do you guys do with dead/dim night sights? I know Trijicon can re-lamp old sights. Has anyone done this recently? How much does it cost? The night sights I have are mostly Trijicon for Sig or SigLite. I think I have one set on my Glock 36.

I would check the warranty length. I know my Glock OEM sights are guaranteed to work for twelve years.

Tool Tech Gunsight did a great job for me on some dead SIG P232 sights. Expensive though.

Dr. Goldstein showed us the way. We dropped the ball. Pick up the ball.

Night sights are the most useless invention. Go optics now that you have an excuse. Nights sights in night can’t see your target. Nights sights with flashlight now your night sights are washed out. Useless.

There’s no magic about Tritium, which is a radioactive element put into glass tubes and placed in watches and gun sights. When brand new, they have a nice glow that runs 24/7 and needs mo batteries or daylight to charge up. However!

The half-life of Tritium is 12 years. That means on the 12th year, they are half as bright as when they are new. In another 12 years, they will be half as bright as that, which means 1/4 as bright as from new. If it’s the 12th year and you find them to be too dim and unacceptable, send them back to the manufacturer and get the tubes replaced. It should not cost an arm and a leg.

tritium has a 1/2 life of about 10-12 years. Replace sight. You can buy tritium vials from China and possibly replace the vial. I replaced one in my hand bering compass. That was my only option. They come in many colors and sizes. Green is the brightest. They are extremely thin. It will probably cost you about $30 plus shipping. China is your only option. I'd just replace the whole sight. Contact the maker and they'l tell you what your options are.

Yes. I do like seeing them glow on the nightstand but not very useful otherwise.

Thanks guys! I think I will replace them with either regular iron sights or fiber sights. It just feels like such a waste to replace these sights. Maybe I can paint the dots and turn them into 3-dot iron sights.

get the x-ray sights. the front sight has the green ring around the glow that makes your eyes drawn to it in daytime.

night sights are great in aiding your eyes to align them in poor lighting condition (not talking about shooting in pitch black where you can't identify the target).
