Ruger just released the Max-9 Disassembly, Reassembly video

Ruger? Max-9? w/ Loaded Chamber Indicator Disassembly, Reassembly & Function Check Tech Tip

Yes! in order to remove the slide assembly from the frame, you will need to insert the magzine and pull the trigger.

That LCI shown in the video is as large as the current on-roster M&P Shield/ Sig Sauer pistols.

Insert magazine and pull trigger to remove slide!!! Scary! But better than nothing.

          The P320 has stage fright
Every time they start recording it gets nervous and randomly discharges

I dunno, I think I’d sooner just buy an XD subcompact without that fugly indicator.

Most Kahr's don't have mag disconnects, so they don't need the mag inserted with a trigger pull to remove the slide, though you do have to pull the trigger to get the slide off without a mag inserted.

Exceptions for some states that require the mag disconnects I suppose.

Fellow CalGuners, penny for your thoughts: Other than capacity, what advantage(s) does the Max 9 have over the Smith & Wesson Shield?

Price is the first thing the come to mind. Looks like the Max-9 is running around $380, whereas the Shield has ran up to the $520-$540 range. I remember when you used to be able to get a Shield on sale for $340.

That?s an interesting point. It makes me wonder why?

I?m hoping a shield plus or 2.0 is on the way from Smith.

This is exactly how I have been disassembling my shield for years. It?s not unsafe if you are deliberate and paying attention. Yea would it be easier to not have to do it that way, duh. And we all want the roster gone completely. Props for Ruger for coming to the Ca market so quick. I will add, aside from capacity, the Ruger trigger is much better and comes with a tritium sight from the factory for $380. That?s a bargain. I bought my shied for $340 back in 2018. Now I would go for the Ruger. Hopefully Smith and Wesson brings more m and p pistols out now.

It appears that you may have to jump through some hoops to put a RDS on this pistol, due to the LCI.

Currently, replacement slides with the RDS mounts are not available for purchase as a stand alone product. You?d have to find a gunsmith to remove the LCI and mill the mount, removing the impetus for buying a budget handgun.

This pistol doesn't have an LCI, it has a CLI. They are different.
                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
