Even if you entertained the idea of buying one off the internet and never using it - don"t. Regardless of being illegal, ATF/DOJ were paying visits to those who bought them after securing customer lists from some of the importers/dustributors. This was a fact, not just tinfoil hat brigade fodder.

There's another possibility that ATF/DOJ had been setting up fake ads or contacting those who may have been re-sellers to get them to take the bait. This may be tinfoil territory, but I wouldn't be testing it.

If it's illegal in the sane states then it's extra illegal in CA

Glock has never manufactured auto sears. Many of the illegal units are marked “Glock”. Glock only manufactured the G18, which has an integral select-fire auto sear.

If you want one, move to a free state, get your FFL07/02SOT, then you can legally acquire one. You could also build one, if you pay ITAR. Any other avenue of possession is 100% illegal. We have one and they’re interesting. On the street illegally, they are extraordinarily dangerous.

"Extra illegal"?. Is that like a hate crime (killing someone because of sexual orientation or skin color for example)?

If you see one for sale best to assume it's the feds or someone that doesn't know/care. Either way the results are the same.

I think what is meant is getting caught with one can possibly land much harsher sentencing than say, possession of 17-round Glock magazines.

                    don't go there

The ATF is losing a game of whack a mole trying to eliminate the glock switch. It consists of 3 simple parts; possession of which is the same as having a machine gun. There are plans which can print on a 3d printer. I suggest you stay away. This will empty a magazine in about 2 seconds, which doesn't tend to be controllable.

Common sense will tell that it would be illegal in CA.
                      Please don't do this.
You don't want to give up your rights and possibly ruin your life for something like this.

Yep, don't have one unless your licensed!

Easier to control with this setup :

"It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.

CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ Quiet

Not sure a happy switch would do you much good with that 10 round max mag that is required in this craphole state.
