    KSD grips?

Anyone have experience with KSD grips? I think they are out of Turkey. I bought a P239 PPT, and it has the 25 dollar Hogue grip that I do not care for. I like the look of wood, and the textured grips might be my jam. Im not looking at the exotic "whatever they call it" wood, I've read reviews of disappointed customers on other forums when it came to the premium wood.

I bought a set of KSD wood grips for my CZ75 PCR. Really good quality for $40 bucks.

It was the Turkish Walnut. The checkering on mine is more like a light-medium profile. Doesn't dig in.

Where'd you find them for 40 bucks? Their website says 60. Maybe inflation has taken it's toll.

Just make sure what they are showing in the photo is what they are sending you. I ordered a grip for a S&W 4506, the picture showed an arched grip, they sent a straight backstrap grip. Then they didn?t want to take it back.
Dr. Goldstein showed us the way. We dropped the ball. Pick up the ball.

Their grips are ok, and sometimes they are the only option. They look good, but in my experience, the wood is soft, the stain is thin, and they come essentially unfinished. The latter is ok since it lets you choose the hardness or level of gloss you want the finish to have.

If you are ok with all that, then go for it. I got these in 2019 for about half of what they are now. They were the only grips for the 1951 I could find at the time and I wound up using tung oil on them with good results.

That looks pretty nice! The only other options I think I have is G10 grips at $100, or troll fleabay for original grips, but I saw a CZ52 with wood grips and thought it was really handsome.

For $60, Ill give it a go once I pick her up. The P239 isn't prestine, but the price is right and I intend to USE it.

Thanks, they do feel good too. If yours are going to see some use and they still come stained but unfinished, get a paste wax or oil finish on there first or the color will come off with use/cleaning.

I had never heard of KSD grips until this thread.

However, based on my experience, I'd say there are some wicked talented craftsmen in Turkey. I bought a set of handmade wooden grip panels for the Beretta 92 from a Turkish seller on ebay several years ago. I was pretty happy when I opened the package and saw them... and they fit perfectly without any modification required. I don't remember how much I paid, but suffice it to say it was reasonable (otherwise I wouldn't have taken a chance on the foreign transaction).

My point, though, is that you probably shouldn't be too worried about KSD being out of Turkey, at least in terms of craftsmanship. There's still all "the other" stuff to worry about, though (is their mail service reliable, how do they handle returns, etc).

I will Not order grips from them again. They looks good, but wobbling a lot on my Python.

Mine fit perfectly, no fitting at all.

I think ya'll have convinced me! I'm going to see if I can learn to love the Hogue grips, but I suspect that they are made for people with bigger hands than I. If this is the case, I'll be ordering the grips in about 3 weeks.

Ruber, did you strip the KSD grips before applying the tung oil?
Dr. Goldstein showed us the way. We dropped the ball. Pick up the ball.

There was nothing to strip. The color/stain on them was more of a wash with no top coat. You can see where it was starting to lighten from use where the web of my hand rubbed before I put something on it. But the tung oil/mineral spirits mixture soaked right in, so there was definitely no sealer on them from the factory.

Johnson's wax would have worked too.
