Tungsten guide rod works great in two of my Glock 17”s with thousands of rounds through them.

Never seen a need for them, 10,000s of rounds fired with stock recoil springs. Never suffered a failure and if it’s a 9mm sure don’t need the added weight for recoil control.

I put a tungsten guide rod on my Gen 4 G34.
Definitely helped with muzzle flip.
No issues at all after maybe 1000 rounds or so.

If my stock Glock guide rods were to fail, I have factory spares on hand and each one cost around $16.00. I too have shot thousands of rounds and some guns tens of thousands of rounds. I’ve yet to have a factory guide rod break. But I do replace them at around the 6,000 round mark as “preventative maintenance.”

My ONLY exception…. My Glock 20 gen3. For that gun, I replaced the guide rod with a stainless steel one, in order to customize and swap out variable weight springs for various custom loads.

Which problem and/or deficiency are you trying to address with a metal guide rod? Or looking to any performance gains? "Flatter" shooting gun?

I’ve never had a NEED to replace them but I did replace a few with stainless guide rods because the thought of a plastic one bothered me at the time. I have Glocks with and without and never had a problem with either one. I also haven’t noticed any difference in performance though I could see a heavier one might help with recoil for some.

Get from a place with excellent return policy, and try tungsten with 14# recoil spring (stock is 16#) if you?re shooting standard pressure ammo

Change will be very very subtle if it?s even noticeable and as others have already beat the horse dead that you need your capt of crush grip for the recoil control

I see no need for a stainless or tungsten guide rod for a G26. Stay with the factory guide rod.

If you were competing with a G17 or G34, then I would understand.

I have a metal guide rod for a G19 that a company gave me for free. I've had it for years and found it again last time I moved. Unless the stock one breaks I don't think I'll ever use it.

My 35 came with a tungsten (and the weight for the heel). Doubt it does anything, but it runs fine. The .25 cent trigger job is another matter, but haven't fixed that either. I can't see spending money on a Glock.

I ordered mine from Wolffs when I still had my Glock 21. I replaced mine because the tip of the plastic rod sheard off. This happened in less than 150 rounds. Must have been a subpar stock part. But rather than calling Glock Inc. for another plastic rod, I just went ahead and ordered the aftermarket steel one from Wolffs.

If I had an ALL steel gun with the guide rod or trigger being the only plastic part, it would bother me

But not in a plastic gun with necessary steel parts and a spec'd in polymer guide rod
