The Poor Man's Set

So a few years ago a friend offered me his Smith & Wesson 908, the value version of the 3913. I jumped at the offer as I've always been a fan of the 3rd Gen Smiths. I put it on my permit and carried it for 4 years.

Last year I was looking through the CG for sale section and came across an ad for a Smith & Wesson 915, the value version of the 5904. The ad was over a year old but I thought I'd reach out to see if it was still available. It was and I jumped on it. Though due to life it took longer to get together with the seller and I just picked it up last week.

I now have a Smith & Wesson Poor Man's collection going on. Now I'm on the look out for a nice 909 (the value 3904) and a 457 (the value 4513).

There's no such thing as a bad Gen 3 Smith. I have a 3914 that is perfect in every way.

Great collection. My very first gun was a model 915 I purchased back in 1990 right after I turned 21. Wish I still had it.

At that time, I knew nothing about guns other than Clint used Smith and Wesson's so that was the brand to get. I still remember the salesman showing me this "trick" gun that he suggested I get instead. It was from a brand I never heard of, and there was no way I was going to buy a "plastic" gun.

The 457 is an outstanding pistol I carried one for years and eventually sold it to my son when I converted to all striker fired autos.

Very accurate, totally reliable, great firearm.

Yep carried my 908 yesterday. A great gun and remarkably accurate.

Solid guns. I got a 910 that just hits whatever I point it at. People are always impressed with how easy it is to shoot.

Thought there was one difference inside too. The value line has poly guide rods. Don't the regular ones have a SS guide rod? It's been so long since I sold my 5906 that I don't remember.

Love all those gen 3 S&W. I have a 4506 and a 1006. Great guns.
