Thanks guys this give me some really good ideas. I was aware of the SA exemption and was thinking I would have to go that way but wanted to be extra sure I was not missing anything.
If Turnbull is doing it the traditional way with bone/charcoal then that is the way I will go. I am aware that there are color treatments you can do chemically and then cleared over to protect I was trying to avoid that. I assume they only do one model because you have to jig the part you are case hardening to keep it true.
WIll report back once I have everything setup with them if it works out.
