So I went to Hodge rd. today and my G17 was double feeding at least once every magazine. I had this happen a year or so ago with 147 grain bullets but this time I was shooting Fiocchi 115 grain 1200fps. I thought maybe I was limp wristing so I intentionally limp wrist and it did not happen. I was told in the past it might be the followers in my factory mags. Have any of you guys or girls had this problem? And will a Glock fire without the mag in? Thanks for any replies. Tinknocker

Mark the magazine as bad and use another one.
Yes, Glocks fire without a magazine inserted.sigpic

Have you done any modifications to the Glock? How old is it/how many rounds have you put through it?sigpicComment

It happened with both factory mags and I bought it new 2 yrs. ago. It is has not been modify and has about 400 rds. thru it since the previous double feeds. I'm thinking maybe the ammo but I've used this brand before.Comment

Being Glock OEM, must be user error

A gun can up and decide it doesn't like a batch of ammo. Could be stuff you used for years. Then suddenly it won't run it.
It could be bad mags, bad guiderod spring, the list goes on.
That said, odds are it's the part behind the trigger. Tendency is to blame everything but ourselves. I am as guilty as anyone.
But buy different ammo from a trusted brand. Fiocchi isn't that. Fiocchi is crap. I have a long, long, long list of horror stories with crap. But it makes me so damn mad it would ruin my night remembering all of them.
Magtech has been great to me. Corbon, Armscore, Federal, Hornady have all worked really well for me.Comment

What magazines? The factory 10 round mags are crap sometimes. Some people have success with using a different follower. Others find the magpull 10 rounders work better. The best is factory Glock highcaps that you bought during Freedom Week.Comment

I tend to use whatever ammo I can find. I have used Fiocchi before and it ran with no problems. Every other brand has ran fine. As I mentioned in the original post I purposely limp wrist it and that was not the problem. 2 yr. old factory mags should not go bad so soon. I don't store them loaded. I also clean all my guns after shooting them and oil them generously.Last edited by Tinknocker; 12-09-2022, 10:38 PM.Comment
