    Curved trigger or flat trigger?

    Hi everyone.

Which do you prefer and why? I've only shot curved on handguns. I have flat on some rifles and curved on others. I don't know that I recognize a clear difference. What are your thoughts?

Flat trigger. In some pistols a curved trigger leaves too little space. Besides, just feels better.

Depends on the gun. For revolvers and long(er) DA triggers - curved. It allows the pull to go straight back without changing angle. For short 1911/2011 triggers it's a matter of preference, mine is either flat or slight edge curve (non-standard, they call them "Enos trigger").

Ya, this is really a “depends” question.
Certainly curved on a DA revolver. More trigger is in contact with your finger pad making an easier pull so to speak. This is why very wide DA triggers are used.
Light trigger pulls work well with flat triggers.

Hmmm I have always had a preference for curved.

If the trigger has a lot of travel (double action revolvers, DA/SA pistols) then I prefer curved.

If the trigger does not have a lot of travel (1911, bolt action rifles) then either flat or curved is fine.

Curved triggers give you a natural stationary spot to pull the trigger which the flat triggers do not. This is especially important when firing multiple rounds.

i prefer curved my finger is consistently placed ive many guns and their is a few different movements like a 1911 is a linear sliding action so i want my finger pressing in line with the tracks

on pivoting if you are positioned low its easier to pull it high its slighly harder to pull

i have a couple winchesters where the trigger kind of goes up instead of back because the pivot is far forward

curved is just better flat is a change for change sake

Yup, curved for double action. I do like flat ones for single action auto's.

The trigger shoe is far less important to me than the break, length of pull, reset, consistency. I didn’t fully understand 1911’s until I engaged the trigger. It all made sense. Flat triggers seem to be more consistent no matter where you engage it. Albeit more pressure is needed the higher you go up. But to answer your question, I prefer flat if all other factors are even. Yet all of my 1911 triggers are curved, so again, its more than just the shoe.
