got me a west german p226 in 9mm. It feels as smooth as butter to me, and makes me dream of ammo to shoot.

          I enjoy mine...I just got it about a month ago..it is a non-railed though.

YZErnie has a P226R 9mm All Stainless for $900, as well as a P220. Nice. I am looking at a P220 Stainless right now. I am just waiting to bid.

My 226 is the "Navy" version used by the Seal Team. I had a Robar NP3 finish put on it which makes the action very smooth. Weapon will not rust.
This finish is state-of-the-art technology and worth every cent. Check it out on your computer.

Be cautious. The first pistol I bought was a Beretta. After buying a Sig P226R SS, I stopped shooting the Beretta, and eventually sold it.

They're very nice pistols, but they, until recently, lacked in the sub-compact department.

I would stay away from Sigs as far as you can....they are very addictive...by far worst than any OLL rifles.
