Paint for front sight

After very long time took my revolver to the range. Surprisingly loved it.... especially puting only one in and working on trigger control.

However I realized that age is catching up with me and I can barely see the front sight. It is integrated staneless steel.

So I decided to try to paint it. Any advice on manufacturer etc?

Nail polish or nail lacquer.

I'll go to Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens to find "whatever" color to use. A bright fluorescent green or reddish-orange work well for my front handgun sights.

No special UV light is needed (apparently "gel" type polish does need a UV light so don't get that type of polish) for regular polish or lacquer.

The bottles will come with a built-in brush so there's NO need to go shopping for brushes and paint thinner, too.

I used a light grey (basically silver) permanent marks-a-lot.

I use orange acrylic nail polish.

Neon green or red nail polish. If it's more of a shooter vs something that will be passed down or has value you could have a smith drill the front sight to install a fiber optic rod so seeing it will be easier.

That’s what I’ve used and it’s cheap and easy to remove.

Paint or upgrade to fiber optic front sight

Nail polish in the color of your choice applied with the tip of a toothpick for a bright dot. Works on corners of the rear notch to give a three dot sight.

That looks nice. I used flourescent testers paint on a 1911 front sight for many years. It was fair. I should have just spent up front to get a fiber optic installed.

Hobby Lobby has a ton of brush on paint an color markers.

I use Birchwood Casey gun sight pens for a very long time now. They are chemical resistant. It is applied in two stages, first a white base coat and then after it dries a fluorescent orange or green coat.

Bad reviews are from people who don't take time to do it right.

Degrease the sight. Mask it. Apply some of the paint onto a paper plate or similar. Use a toothpick or small brush to pick up some the paint and transfer to the sight. Wait for the base coat to dry at least 12 hours then apply the top coat. Let the top coat dry 24 hours then remove the mask

I didn't have much luck with the Birchwood Casey pens for my LCP (they could have been aged though). Gonna try nail polish next.

Same concept as the Birchwood Casey pens - go to Hobby Lobby and pick up some "oil based" Sharpie pens (white and flourescent yellow, red or orange work well.)

Degrease; mask; put on a white base coat and let dry; then put on a color top coat.

If you mess up, the paint can be removed with alcohol. Otherwise, it is long lasting.
