Anyone have a CZ 83?

Have been wanting one for awhile. Every time I've found one I had to pass on it, since I'd have to buy it without mags. Making a good deal on it, a not so good deal after buying mags elsewhere.
FYI- Sportsmans Guide is an anti-Ca company. They won't sell hardly anything to us."To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them" - Richard Henry Lee

I'm in the process of moving to Oregon. Don't have an Oregon driver's license yet, though.Have been wanting one for awhile. Every time I've found one I had to pass on it, since I'd have to buy it without mags. Making a good deal on it, a not so good deal after buying mags elsewhere.

The CZ83 is on the roster, amazingly. I owned the 82, same gun, slightly different caliber but pretty close in power and size. Good little guns and $341 is a great price if they are not beaters. I'm a CZ fan boy, their guns are so well built and engineered. If you can get one, get one.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Great all steel gun,,even with the original plastic grips it is probably too wide for concealed carry, and most people only want .380 for that purpose.
I've got walnut grips on mine, and they are wider still.NRA Range Safety Officer pistol and reloading instructor

I had an 82 when they imported a bunch a few years back. it was my first handgun. It cost me around 200$. It was a great pistol for the money. A little heavy but it made for a smooth shooter. The magazines are interchangable between the 82/83. Eventually I sold it to fund a Glock(I know right
) Regret it ever since.

That is not the rostered version of the Cz83 - but maybe your FFL will not know the difference.Comment

I have the new CZ 83 on the roster. Bought it about 6 years ago and it's a really nice pistol. Haven't shot it too many times, but when I did, no jams and very accurate. Wish I would've bought more .380 ammo back then. Oh well.Last edited by rainman8819; 05-31-2022, 8:57 PM.Comment

CZ82 (the C&R) Good pistol in 9 Mak, but very commonly converted to 380 with bbl from CZ USA, uses same mags. I liked mine did the 380 conversion, BUT had an issue with hammer bite and bleeding, gunsmith shaved off .25 from the hammer and still had the problem so sold it. Bought it when the really nice surplus pistols were on the market, not the beaters I see now.Comment

How does the trigger reach compare to say, a Makarov PM or a J Frame revolver?Comment

That's too bad. I never had that problem with mine. Though I did wind up selling it. I was just not shooting it enough to justify keeping it. I actually sold all of my old C&R CZ's. I'm now CZless.CZ82 (the C&R) Good pistol in 9 Mak, but very commonly converted to 380 with bbl from CZ USA, uses same mags. Yeah, I have small hands and my Mak fits me ok.
I carry a J frame Model 60 and a Mak. Have been wanting the older CZ 83 Made in Czechoslovakia but haven’t found one here to hold.Last edited by Dan_Eastvale; 06-02-2022, 7:24 PM.Comment
