All joking aside, what did you fly over there? I have never seen that type of plane before. As stated above, thank you for your service.

The airplane I fly is a C-23C Sherpa, kinda ugly ain't it? It's a 75' wingspan, 25,600# multi-role cargo aircraft. It's really just a converted civil airliner, but we work it like it's a small C-130. We do much of the "last tactical mile" cargo and passenger hauling in theater. The aircraft is also a good paradrop platform, but we're not doing allot of that in Iraq right now.

I'm attaching a picture that was taken at NAS North Island a couple of years ago. I'm flying the airplane in the pic along with two of the guys that went on this deployment with me. Winslow at Kimber converted this picture into the graphic that you see engraved into the grips on the pistol, pretty cool!

To be honest I think that aircraft looks kind of nice. It has a neat mixture of boxiness and sharp lines. Reminds me of one of those Scion xBs or whatever.

They were manufactured by Shorts Brothers in Ireland. The civil version is called - Shorts 330. There is also a conventional tail version S360. Many years ago I worked on the 330 type A/C at a commuter airline in Texas. We had probably 25 of these aircraft. Positives- very big cockpit/stand up cabin, lots of Pratt&Whitney turboprop power. Negatives- parts sometimes hard to come by (from Ireland) for the airframe. Not the prettiest gal on the flightline
