Glock 19 or 23?

I started with the 23, but then got the 19 too. 23 for self defense, 19 for cheaper practice.

Shoulda just got a conversion barrel and saved 400 bucks lol!

I would have to say go with the 19. As you stated the .40s&w is manageable, but my reasoning will come with what can be done with the 19. You said you had a 17, and possible owned it during a time of standard mags. Well you can use those with an extension. I love my 17c and if I was to step down, I would go to a 19c. Yes harder to find, but as a heads up Bright Spot told me that they can be ordered in yesterday. Now I say the 19c, even though not needed, is because the recoil is a push then a snap better for follow ups and double taps. And the two arguments of the big flash blinds you at night, It hasn't happened to me, and that it slows the bullet down, well your buying a compact so I think 50ft in a self defense situation is good. And last you can always buy a stock barrel and now you have both.

I have a Glock 23 with a LW 9mm conversion barrel. The previous owner did all the work and intalled 9mm extractor and ejector. So far it has not failed one bit as long as the ammo is factory or reloaded brass resized to factory specs. Any slight bulge will jam it up. Although it's in the tight spec the end result is very good accuracy.

In the current situation, I would definitely go with 23. Good luck finding cheap 9mm nowadays.

I have always liked 9mm because no matter where you are, you will always find 9mm. Its so common and cheap. In a matter of SHTF, 9mm would be easier to find. Plus if you ever move out of state or by some miracle, we can use hi caps one day, 9mm has the 33rnd mags.

I say get the 23. I love my G19, but I kick myself every time I go to Wal-Mart and see nothing but barren shelves...except for the stacks of .40 ammo.

There's always the conversion, too.

But thats just the way it is these Obama days. I am sure after it all settles, 9mm will be available, or maybe if we just killed the walmart ammo thread on here, we would be able to go find ammo at walmarts

I suppose we all... I guess interpret (is the word), SHTF differently. In my mind, during SHTF I am carrying a rifle with me. If I need a 9mm handgun (which are the most common) it wouldn't be difficult to get one.

Btw, I just bought a G23 today. I am very excited and now I have to wait for the stupid 10 day wait period
