I just sold one of my 17's and now in the market for a compact. I love the 9mm but i handle a .40 just the same. The reason i am asking for opinions is the only Kb issues i have heard about glocks were ones chambered in .40 S&W. I'm not trying to get into a caliber debate because i know i'm just as lethal 9 as any other. I am merely looking to get feed back on reliability and maybe why you opt for one over the other.

Glock 19 or 23?

Get both.
Seriously, if you want a 23 get one. I have three of them. I purchased my first 23 in 1991 and have shot the heck out of it and I reload all my pistol ammo. Never as much as a hiccup or any other issue with that gun. Because of how that 23 has performed I've become a Glock addict.Disenfranchised NRA Benefactor Life Member.

Glock credits the KBs with a poor reloading job or using steel cases. There is a whole long thread about it on ARF, mostly with regard to the unsupported chamber. Most of the haters have never owned a 23, a very tiny amount experience or witnessed a KB, and most of the people defending them own the 23 and love it.
I am in the same exact boat as you and I have decided on the 23. My reasoning is simply that I am slightly more comfortable with the 23 as I have used it before and never used a 19. And also because you can always buy a .22lr, 9mm, and/or .357 Sig convertion kit for the 23. I think the 19 can only take a .22lr conversion kit. I am doing a 23 with the 9mm and .22lr conversion kit, I'd suggest the same.Comment

I've shot both and own a 23. Can't see how you ca go wrong with either. It's a great compact shooter.Originally posted by tikiI love it. If he ever gets jumped in an alley, he'll come back with:

Having shot both and liking both, I don't feel like there is much of a difference other than the caliber involved. So I think it comes down to your own opinion on 9mm vs .40.THEGRAYHAMComment

I like both" I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving. "Comment

As others have said, if you can't decide fully, you can get the .40 and then get a conversional barrel to shoot 9mm if you wanted; but it can't go the other way around. I don't think there is any reason to go with one over the other, just pick the caliber you like and get a gun dedicated to that caliber. I like to own both a .40 and a 9mm gun.Comment
