Since it's a range gun, I felt I could go lighter. But for a carry piece, I agree I wouldn't adjust the screw and would use a heavier spring to ensure ignition.

A lot to like. When I have some time, I'm going to try to smooth out the trigger to get rid of the creep. If I can, this will probably be my go to. Even though I really like the 586, I love the ruggedness of the Ruger.

I prefer Smiths over Colts for the simple reason that the cylinder release is faster and more intuitive.

Good read. Reminds me of guns and ammo magazine. I plan on keeping my revolvers for life and I love referencing stuff like this in case I get the urge to tinker.

Do agree it's a bit lopsided. But, I was also trying to highlight that for 1/2 the cost of the Python plus a little time, you can have a revolver that is awesome. Don't want to knock the Python because in it's stock form, it is sweet. There might be spring kits out there, but my search didn't yield anything the garage mechanic could do easily (like the S&W and Ruger). There are results discussing trigger jobs and gunsmiths that can smooth things out, but I didn't find anything like I did for the other two.

If Wilson or Wolf develop spring kits for the Python, I will pick one up and give it a whirl then report back.

I didn't get a chance to watch the video yet. Maybe it's answered in there but, the spring kit comes with 3 springs. How did you determine which spring to try first?
I will use the new 686 for carrying in the mountains

Watch Jerry's video. He explains. I went a bit lighter because I'm not carrying. If CCW, I would probably go heavier to ensure reliability. The Smiths are easy to work on, so I would try them out and go with the one that best works for you.
