Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger with PPQ TSK Competition Trigger Kit

    Hello

Has anyone tried the stock Dynamic Performance Trigger and then added the PPQ TSK Competition Trigger Kit? If so could you please let me know the difference in pull weight. ($18 seem like a lot for 2 little .99 cent springs)

I watched a couple videos on the Dynamic Performance Trigger and both people used the Sprinco springs they were already using and did not even try the factory springs.

I have a Q5 Match and love it. (will be picking up a PDP 5" Full Size to compare on the 17th) I liked the stock trigger compared to other striker fired triggers but went with an Apex Forward Set Trigger and like it even better. I just purchased a Dynamic Performance Trigger and I'm wondering if those 2 little springs make a dramatic difference.

    Thanks for any info

    Matt

    EDIT:

I shot the stock Dynamic trigger and then added the Sprinco TSK kit and it does make a big difference. The firing pin safety spring lightens up and smooths out the take up. The trigger return spring does take over a full pound off the pull weight. I'd highly recommend this set up if you're looking to upgrade your PPQ or PDP pistol.

I installed the trigger system last week. Really nice. The factory trigger return spring is heavy though.

Instead of the TSK kit, I just went with Overwatch trigger return spring. I am waiting for the springs to arrive from Midway, got both green and red spring to try

Awesome, thanks for the info. (that's an ugly paint job on those springs, I can just imagine what it will look like in the frame after the first use)

That looks good but I went with the black trigger. Please let me know how those 2 springs work. They are still pretty expensive for a small spring but if they get the job done it may pay for itself.

      Thanks again

The factory PPQ recoil spring is painted red and also leaves red flakes floating around in the frame, even on my unfired PPQ. There are some factory Sig recoil springs and hammer springs that are painted various colors to denote the spring weight. Sprinco also paints their aftermarket recoil springs various colors, as do some others.

        Maybe it's a Euro thing

Must be because I've noticed that as well with Walthers and Sigs. I have never seen that in any American firearm before.

If I can get some accurate pull weights, I'll look into getting some springs. I'm curious how the Dynamic trigger will compare to the Apex which I'm happy with now. I'll put it in tomorrow and post back the weighs and feel between the two.

Mine breaks like glass, no over travel and short reset. I think it will be much better though when it is a tad lighter after the spring swap.

PS - I will test my pull before and after the spring swaps. I have a Lyman digital gauge I can use

Gents, I've looked all over for this trigger for my PDP, which was a true disappointment in stock form. Who else may have this in stock besides Walther?

                Keep checking Walther the sight

I was on the fence and noticed it In Stock and Out of Stock for a couple days. I called Walther to order one and the guy said "the site is our live inventory, I cannot back order it for you, just keep checking the site".

The next morning it was in stock and I ordered it and it arrived in a couple days. I'm going to install it tomorrow and I'll post my results.

In stock @ Walther, why buy anywhere else?

They sent me a sheet of cool stickers too - a bunch of different PDP stickers included

I installed the Dynamic trigger and although I like the shorter over travel and rest,
I do not like the weight and feel of the take up and reset compared to the Apex trigger.
(the Apex is just a modded bar with different and offset pad, no springs or housing)
I understand shooting is totally different but this is my dry firing results. I'll shoot the Dynamic trigger and edit this post after that.

Apex: 4lb 2oz - has about 3000 rounds on it

                    Dynamic: 4lb 14oz - brand new

Apex: smooth consistent feel and weight of take up, firm wall, crisp break, Very positive/firm reset

Dynamic: varying weight and 2 stage take up, crisp break, very short but very soft reset (it feels like something is dragging in my pistol on the reset)

If a couple springs could drop the weight 1 pound, I would probably prefer the Apex over the Dynamic. I won't know till I get a chance to shoot it next week.

                    Matt

Edit: I took the trigger out, did a detailed cleaning on everything and reinstalled it. The reset is a lot better than it was at first. I don't know why but it's not an issue anymore

In searching about the PPQ and Dynamic trigger I came across this video.

It's very crude but seems like an affective way to remove the pretravel.

Maybe it will wear in with use, if not I will sell it and get some springs for the Apex and go back to that. (or install it in the PDP to see)

I'll update this thread once I figure it out.

He has almost certainly disabled his firing pin safety with that mod. You can see in this animation that the firing pin safety is lifted in the "pretravel" portion of the trigger pull. And unlike a Glock trigger bar, there is really no way to reprofile the cam surface on the PPQ to change the timing and allow takeup without also disengaging the firing pin safety before you are really ready to fire.

Also, he does not show what if anything he did to the trigger tab safety. Usually on a gun with a trigger tab safety, you have to modify the tab to remove any meaningful pre-travel and still have a working tab safety. So I wonder if his trigger tab safety even engages anymore - I could not see it in the video.

The fact that he never even discusses these two safeties tells me he is oblivious to how these systems work or the ramifications of his mod on them.

Good points, I was not recommending it, I just found it interesting.

I wasn't thinking about the safeties, just looking at the travel. You are correct, I don't think he gave any of that consideration.
