Thanks everyone. And thanks for the maintenance advice. I'll have to investigate what having a pinned versus glued ejector means, but I already don't like the idea of something vital in a firearm relying on glue to hold it in place. Thousands or rounds and thousands of individual g-forces on the gun are bound to knock loose any glue I would imagine. Thanks for the tip. Of course, even if mine is glued and I want it pinned, I'll have to use a gunsmith other than SA - they only work on non-modified SA handguns.

SA will pin it if you ship the gun back to them. During production, SA have pinned some .45's and not others.

Any smith familiar with a 1911 should be able to pin the ejector correctly as the gun was originally designed.

Congrats! Keep in mind, for next time, your father can take possession of the gun and ship directly to a CA FFL. Find a CA FFL that is familiar with interfamilial transfer, that will also accept shipment from individuals. Cut out the middle man.

Thanks for this. Yes I was aware that this was possible, but when I was getting all the wheels in motion, I was not aware that so many (most) out-of-state FFLs were unwilling to register with the CFLC and ship into CA. So I had already notified my local FFL, who only receives handgun shipments from other FFLs, thinking that it was no big deal. Once I realized how rare getting an FFL to register & ship CFLC compliant, it was kinda too late.

If my dad ever gives me another gift, I will definitely find a local FFL who has no problem receiving a firearm shipment from a private individual.

I did something similar with my MC Op... bought the 49-state G10s from Springfield and replaced the wrap-around rubber Pachmayers. The front strap on my CA pistol is smooth, like my CA Parkerized Loaded.
