I see that Botach is selling some 92fs Police Specials with 3 10rnds mags for $500. I can't seem to find anywhere if this is on or off roster. The only thing difference I can tell is some extra markings on the slide and a extra magazine than normal? Does anyone know if I can have this shipped to CA and drosed?

Sent from my Amazon Fire Tablet using TapatalkYes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I dont see any # on the roster for the sku or upcoming codes.
So does any 92fs black pass?
Looks to be a italian 92fs, and I have seen new italian 92fs at the gun shop
Call a gun shop see what they think, its up to them
I have ordered used police returns before, the shop said as long as they were 92fs in factory return they will dros .
Not bad for 500 but... 500 + tax+ incoming fee, who knows?

It is the exact same gun as on the roster. There are no extra markings on the slide. All current 92 from Italy have that new, revolting lawyer billboard on the slide now.
The police special just comes with extra mag and in a cheap cardboard box instead of plastic box. None of that affects the roster status.
It is the same 92 that is on the roster. All you have to do is find a FFL who recognizes that and who does not get hung up on SKUs.
I agree, you might save very little money compared to buying from Sportsman's. I personally would seek out an Italian 92 that is a few years old and does not have the lawyer language plastered on the slide.Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-09-2021, 5:43 PM.Comment

I think maybe what you are seeing is the PB logo in an oval, which is on EVERY 92 or M9
PB - Pietro Beretta
I have looked at pics and videos of the "police special", all I see is the dead nuts exact same gun you can buy on the shelves of many CA gun stores.
I guess we need more info...Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-09-2021, 9:17 PM.Comment

I bought two police 92FS trade ins from J&G Sales in AZ in 2016. I would check with a local FFL and have them give you a definitive answer. They were nasty but cleaned up nicely. A before pic of one:

Paid $325 each.sigpic

We are discussing new in box guns though. But I see you do have a PS in a shield on yours. So the question now becomes, are these new guns still marked that way or not?
As usual, we can't always trust stock photos on retailer websites. But all the pics I have seen where these new Police Specials are listed for sale do not show that marking. So this needs more investigation to say if they are the roster gun or not.
If they are marked with a 'PS' then as noted by other users above, they are technically not the roster gun.Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-09-2021, 9:24 PM.Comment

Unfortunately, I don't think they do that anymore. I've seen recent production police specials with no special markings on the slide. It says police special on the box and comes with three mags. I haven't seen the "PS" in a shield for a long time.Comment

OP - as always it is up to your FFL. Get them to clear any transfer before purchase. You should find out from the seller Botach, if these guns are marked 'PS' so you can give your FFL correct info.Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-09-2021, 9:28 PM.Comment
