    Just bought a Ruger GP100!

    Ruger GP100 KGP-161, 6" barrel.

Counting down the days. I can take delivery on July 3rd!

I think I'm going to replace the grips with the older style that take inserts. Anyone else done this?

Yep, replaced the grip with the old style and like it much better. Bought it direct from Ruger.

Ruger's wheel guns are awesome, don't let anyone tell you other wise.

This one is mine. I also have a Security 6, kind of pre GP100 and a New Model Blackhawk convertible.

PS: most people (including me) hate the new Hogue grip. Lots people switch back to the old style grip. I believe you can get them from Ruger for around $30.

I did that too. Plus I added a red front sight for better visibility

I did the poor man version of it. A trip to $0.99 store and got 5 different colors of nail polishes. So far the white work pretty good.

I fired a GP100 at my local range and had wicked trigger sting with it.

Anyone else notice this? Or am I just a newb that needs to learn to shoot? >.>

My trigger out of the box was crap. I had an action job done on it and now it's smooth and light as can be.

With the 6" barrel you get the most out of the 357 magnum ammo.
The 6 " is much more pleasant to shoot than the 4".

Sometimes very square / sharp corners may be found on either side of the trigger face. You may want to blunt these edges with a stone.
Rekrab maybe this is the trigger sting you mention.

                          Great pictures guys.

If anyone else is looking, I found the old style factory grips for $8.29

Now I just need to track down some inserts. The rosewood ones on Ruger's site look pretty good, but I guy over at ruger forums makes some exotic wood inserts for about $30:

Nice! I've always been a Ruger revolver kind a guy. Those Hogue grips are nice for target shooting and hunting, but they are not fast like the grips with insert.

Congrats, recently I acquired a GP100 4 inch SS. Took some hunting around, but found some new older grips and put them on.

I love that gun, everyone needs a .357 mag.
