Ongoing Auction question - ?

With the CMP program tens of thousands are entering the market. I just don't see how era GI's are holding pre CMP 1911 issue prices outside of rare examples.

Most if not all the CMP guns are mix masters and/or rearsenaled and/or refinished. I have seen few if any in all original as-issued condition unless they were at the CMP auction.

That is why this gun went for a lot of money, combined with the fact that it was from a low production year and had the Type 1 slide. Original finish, original parts GI 1911s will always be worth more than the majority of the CMP guns. They were smuggled out of service at the end of the war.

Yes, it is the one with the Anniston Army Depot rearsenal marks showing it was rebuilt in 1975.

Since this thread mentions Remington Rand 1911A1's

I thought I would share a few pics of my Fathers Atomic testing bring back from 1952. It has a "R" marked WWII magazine. plus two other WWII marked mags.

The pistol was manufactured in 1945. I also have his holster, belt, mag pouch and lanyard. As well as his ID card and "Operation Ivy" participation paperwork.

OP you should check out Simpson Ltd in Chicago, they had a huge collection of c&r 1911's, it's thinned out quite a bit and prices are edging up (what isn't).
They have a Rem Rand military made in 1943 and apparently never issued, looks pretty darn close to brand new for 88 years old, best of luck to you

Re links I generally see a workaround as listing the auction site and number.

Re the gun, those on the Colt Forum are extraordinarily adept at picking apart the finer points of why a gun isn't as presented. I'm not talking about an old model Trooper with a poorly screwed on Python barrel, but rather if a part stamp or font is off, too many or too few LPI checkering, etc - they'll spot it.
