    Got my new Glock 21

Wow, I love this gun! It's a Gen 3, needless to say, since that's all we can get here in CA, but hey, it'll do. The magazine holds ten rounds, a great improvement on my other .45 autos, and if it's anything like my other Glocks, it will never jam. And I love the sights. I'm so stoked.
Sam, if it's December 1941 in Casablanca, what time is it in New York? I bet they're asleep in New York. I bet they're asleep all over America.

    I replaced my 1911 carry with a G21 for a while.

All of the things you say and more (bigger, thicker, 13+ rounds...) are true.

When the G30 came out, it moved in to the .45 CCW role, and the G21 moved to home defense.

While the G30 is still ten rounds, it's substantially smaller and even more accurate...

    Both great guns!

G21 akshually has a capacity of 13+1. And I think Glocks mags might not have date of mfg on them either.

Same experience with G26. Shoot it better than my G17. Always kept to 9m for standard sized pistols. Have the G30S and love it. Crimson Trace light really completes it. Missed out acquiring a legal G21 full cap mag for back up, but will live. Thinking of getting a 29 slide also for it for the 10m option, yet not at these prices.

Congrats! The 21SF is still my favorite Glock. For some reason I can shoot it better and faster than a 17. Would have been nice if we could have standard capacity mags in CA.

I'm not a fan of the stock Glock sights, they work OK. I switched out to Truglo TFX pro sights on my primary HD Glocks (21SF with a 17 as backup). I like the dots and night sights better.

If you use it for HD a set of night sights and a light may be worthwhile. I just added a small Streamlight TLR-7 to mine, didn't want the bulk or weight of a bigger light.

          Anyway, enjoy!!!

The Glock store has drop in .45 barrels that are bored to 10mm so no additional parts are required for @120.00. IIRC they're made over seas by the same mfg as Lone Wolf before they switched to a US mfg. In the meantime if you reload .45 super has recipes that get up to @1,000 fps.

I use a civil defense 45ACP...has 1900 FPS, Kinetic Energy 600 FPE, Pressure +P....the big issue which is a major plus for me is the 78grains. Super light load for CCW (carry weight). They say it has more stopping power and reduced over-penetration and less muzzle flip. It's a fragmenting nasty wound type round. I switch out to standard 230 full metal jacket for mountains.

10M would be interesting. Don't know much about it's ballistics, yet FBI spent some time on it's parameters.

No sure if only a barrel will be sufficient as the 45 is larger diameter cartridge. You may need to look at the extractor and ejector, and potentially even need a RSA for it to run well with the smaller slide/frames - especially with more potent 10mm cartridges.

Don't think you need more than 45 ACP for bipeds, for quadrupeds 45 super or 10mm can be helpful.

the G 21 is a soft shooter and totally reliable. Congratulations OP. 👍

I’m still planning on getting a G21 or 30 at some point, but I got the G20 and was surprised how much I like the large frame Glocks. They’re just huge, but still usable - the .45 is also such a perfect cartridge for a full sized gun.

I agree, I really like the 20 because my hands feel like there's just so much surface area available to hold onto. Felt recoil is only a tad bit more noticeable than when shooting a 17. I really love my g20. The 29 is great too. Much more manageable than the "snappy" reviews would have you think.

1900 fps is a lot of friggin getty up for a pistolero and may be a viable woods gun.10mm is @ 12-1500 fps but it pushing a bigger pill, so the DD barrel is a cheap conversion.

From what I've read the slide, frame and all the internals minus the extractor. People have dropped a G20 barrel directly into a G21 and said they got it to function with decent reliability. IIRC there is a small gap in hood lockup. Unfortunately there is little info on the GS DD G21 10mm drop in barrel.

And in spite of a stock trigger assembly it doesn't disappoint... A 2.246" group at 25-yards standing off-hand...
