New Colt Python

Hey guys, happy Friday to all...
I have a quick question for the Colt guys. Do you think they will produce a blued model?

Not a Colt guy (too much $$), but it's doubtful any time soon. Right now they can't make enough of the stainless-steel Python 2020's, and stainless-steel guns are all the rage now.

If they do, it won't be that awesome deep blue that Colt lovers have come to enjoy.

Not likely for mass produce. Custom Shop may take on custom orders, and if they do, it might be farmed out and it will NEVER be like the royal blue from yesteryears.

Chemical and regulation these days will never fly and no master polisher left and not feasible to do so.

If they do it’ll be a limited run type thing I imagine, anything from Colt lately isn’t all that great anyways

I seem to recall the rep saying they had plans for a DLC version of the python, but blued wasn't going to happen as they are only set up to build them in stainless, which can't be blued. DLC is probably better anyways, can look as good as bluing but much more durable. That being said, who knows what their plans are now that CZ is buying them.

I'll bet the management at CZ will elect to produce a high polish blued version at some point in the future. It's too iconic not to. CZ seems to have a pretty good pulse on what's hot and what's not, unlike Colt management. But, due to the cost of producing it, it will likely be a limited run with a very high price point.

If the made a blue gun as pretty as the original Python, it would become the new rage. Stainless guns are "all the rage now" since you don't have another choice.

An ultimate brite stainless steel option like the old days would be nice too. I don't see a royal blue finish ever happening. I also want to see a 2.5" version come out.

Most people said that the Python would never return and here we are. It depends on the sales of the SS and the demand from the public. I think they will release a blued version.

Like so many other topics and threads, I suspect the answer is … supply and demand. If CZ/Colt believes that there will be enough Demand I presume they will produce a Supply. It appears there is a lot of interest in a Royal Blue model so expect that will eventually be made available. I certainly hope so.

I just wish they would make them visibly more like the originals. That's the whole reason I don't like the new ones, it lacks the finer details. No backstrap serrations, hammer is cheaper/not nicely checkered, grips are cheap laminated crap, ect. Internal reliability mods are fine, but externally they should've made it an exact copy. Hopefully CZ is better at running things.

You never know. I was on the 1911 forum years ago. I got flamed for saying that Colt would bring back the Python. There was one guy on the forum who claimed that he had friends that worked and Colt. They told him that Colt will never bring back the Python.

I told him " you can't say never". Again, I got flamed. Everyone backed him because he supposedly had friends that worked at Colt.

That's why you can't say never.
