USP 9mm or M9A1, thoughts?

I love my USP 9mm but the DA trigger pull really sucks and benefits a lot from installing the Match trigger. That's the only downside I can think of. At least the stock SA trigger pull is decent.

I don't own an M9 but I've shot my friend's 92FS many times. It's a smooth shooter but I don't like the slide mounted safety.

I am a big fan of the Beretta 92FS and the M9. The M9A1 gives you the option of mounting a light.

Two ways of looking at the Beretta Safety / Decocker. For me it is just a 'Decocker' and my trigger finger is my 'safety'.

I had a V1 USP didn't like the DA, converted to a LEM which is ok, but no comparison to my M9 with a D spring and "G" decock only safety mod. I'd say Beretta is the better pistol. It pains me to admit it being a HK fanboi, but I mainly shoot Glocks.

I like HK triggers. They dont bother me one bit. However its super cheap and easy to install a lighter hammer spring in the Beretta and make trigger light and smooth. I give a slight edge to the Beretta.

You should consider the P2000 instead of the USP. Its essentially an improved USP and it costs less.

I have a USP Expert (yes I know it’s not the same as the regular USP) and the M9.

The slide mounted safety on the Beretta is really awkward to reach without breaking your grip.

If ergos are your preference, get the HK.

I vote H&K USP.

I'm not a fan of slide mounted controls (safety/decocker).
^Have to break grip to use it and sometimes will unintentionally active it when racking slide.

I like both!

I have a USP 9 and its big brother the USP 45. I also have three Berettas, and M9, M9A1, and Langdon Tactical Elite LTT.

USP con is is the proprietary accessory rail and expensive magazines.

Beretta 92 con is the fixed front sight which can't be replaced without a completely different slide. The standard safety/decocker doesn't bother me and you can always switch it to decocker only.

My Beretta from Langdon has the best DA/SA trigger I've ever used.

I say just get both. But if you have to choose one.....get both.

Never had a USP, but I had an M9A1 that I really enjoyed, just sold it last month. I bought it to relive some old glory days from the military although we just had the M9 then. I still have my holster that I used in the sandbox that I am hesitant to throw/give away and am contemplating just getting an M9 to put in the holster LOL ��! I really liked the M9A1’s smooth action and I’m an 80’s and 90’s kid so I grew up with the movies with the berettas. I like their looks although they are a little big for me compared to others in today’s world. They are a soft shooter in my opinion too. Of course with that open slide, I did pinch my hand while racking it like an idiot while I was messing around with it.

The answer is both eventually but M9A1 now if you want a gun you can really make shine with a #13 hammer spring & Langdon trigger bar.

Check out the Beretta PX4, it's a very underrated pistol IMHO. 12 lb hammer spring and a LTT trigger bar transforms the pistol. Add the Beretta competition trigger group and DA pull is outstanding. My PX4 with the LTT trigger bar, LTT 12 lb spring and Beretta competition trigger has a 7 lb 7 oz DA and 4 lb 5 oz SA with short reset. Soft shooter for a polymer framed 9 mm.

Between the M9A1 or USP, I vote M9A1. Also lots of upgrades available if you decide to take that route. Had a USP Expert and still preferred the trigger on the Beretta with a 13 lb hammer spring (although I run a 12 lb spring on my IDPA gun).
