Problem with the 2022, is the lack of available duty holsters. Only issue I see with that.

If open carry were to become legal in California, then everyone’s sidearm would become a status symbol.

I think you would see high end 1911’s and N/L frame S&W’s with fancy grips, and people who carried Glocks would not be allowed into nice restaurants.

So, why not carry something nice looking?! I say Smith 27 with walnut grips for security guard.

That won't be a popular answer, but they sure do shoot nicely.

Hard to beat a Glock 17 for this use case, so may holster/light options. Easy to get, cheap, reliable, etc. Light to carry and still full size.

Alternatively I would say a 21SF, but holster w light options are more limited. And the fatter 21 and 45 ACP is not for everyone.

              Thanks for the input.
I guess it's more glock 17 for me.

Here's a question: would you buy a separate glock 17 for work, or use the same gun as your ccw.

15 rounds of 45acp out of a 1911 platform. Para P-14 (cloned by Rock Island for those who must adhere to the stupid roster). Less recoil than a g17 with almost as many rounds- and each round has has a whole lot more whoop-@$$ than 9mm.

For the 15 years I worked Security, I always carried my Glock 23. I knew it would work when I needed it. But I never needed it, thank god.

Separate...so if you're involved in a shooting, you still have your ccw.

I'd opt for a Sig SP2022 or P226 in 9mm given the On-Roster, 10 round mags only, option to mount a light or not.

Personally prefer Sig DA/SA's, are arguably the most accurate handguns I can shoot (only competition in that regard would be my 1911's), and I honestly view the DA-trigger pull on the first shot to be better than a manual safety.

More importantly though, get a holster that has some form of retention, and avoid the Blackhawk SERPA style holsters if you can. They're expensive, but Safariland leads the pack in that category of holsters.

What does the employer allow to be carried? The Glock 19 or 17 is a good choice.

Definitely get another G17. Good thing is that you will be very familiar with it.
