I Have an AR pattern 9mm and I really like it.

The Ruger PC Charger is off roster and considered an AW in CA.

Can you legally possess an AR9 upper with a lower registered as a rifle if you don’t put them together? Seems like there is a $1200 premium on lowers register as pistol. I’d be shooting in private ranges but wouldn’t want to be caught during storage or transport.

If your AR9 upper is a rifle upper, then you are good to go. But if you are referring to pistol uppers of any caliber, then NFA applies and it is not advisable to even possess an AR pistol upper without having an appropriate AR pistol lower.

Thanks. I see some short AR9 barrels uppers on sale here. They would not need to Go through FFL right?

Uppers dont need to go through an ffl if I remember correctly. But honestly all flls are very confused on the subject of ar pistols as we are as consumers. They might tell you yes anyways lol

ATF is trying to change that, so that almost any gun part, or anything that can be made into a gun part, has to go through an FFL.

Be sure to go to the ATF comment page and tell them NO.
