FFL is an idiot. GP-141 is a catalog# for a GP100 variant, also known as model 1702 or 01702

I honestly wonder how such dumb FFLs stay in business when they don't even know what they can offer for sale to the public.

Wow. Can't find the receipt, but I bought a brand new GP100 .357 in the late 80's for what couldn't have been more than $200. Now I really wish I hadn't sold it.

Seems that the GP100 357 01758 is no longer on Ruger product list, but is still listed on the Roster.
Gunbroker has them listed current bid at 800 to 1200 buy now.
Glad i have one. Its a MUST have in my opinion. Excellent handling and accurate.

Inflation. $200 then is ~$600 now so it hasn't gone up much.

I just pulled out my receipt for my nickle plated Smith & Wesson 586. It was $299 before all the fees. If I 'member correctly the blue 586 was $279 so that would have made the Ruger GP100 about $249-259. I bought mine in 1987 so if you bought yours earlier in the 80's or on sale under $200 seems about right.


FYI, the DROS fee in March of 1987 was $5.00

I wish I had the receipt for my first hand gun, model 27 5 inch in 85 for $279.

I do too, a 4". It is truly exceptional. I put a set of fiber optic sights on it from Ruger. Transformed it into a very easy sight acquisition revolver.

I have a 4" in Stainless. Have a HiViz FO sight up front. Awesome!!

My first GP100 was a blue 6”. Very accurate and loved that gun. Used it as my hunting sidearm in Maine. Had it in a holster and left it in the car for a few days. Not a good idea, that gun started rusting. Got most of the rust out, although Ruger guns don’t sport the best bluing the blue got real ugly after removing the rust. Ended up trading it for something I didn’t need at the time.
