Maybe I'll shoot it and see if anything improves, or take it to my local smith to see if he can correct it. Pretty disappointed and won't buy another Colt.
Interesting how Charter Arms, Taurus and Smith & Wesson (especially Smith & Wesson) can pass the drop test and have a better trigger pull than a $1,500.00 Colt.

I know right? I haven't shot it but I'm seriously thinking about letting this one go. I'll be happy with my 4" and 6" Smolts and 4" Couger.

Why didn't you just buy a 1970s stock Python?

That's a lie. By the late 60s they were not "just like the originals". Less hand work and fitting. Lack of deep gloss blue. I like the new one is using the leaf spring not the cheap coil one they added to the MKIII to build it cheaper.

Well worth the extra $1,000. By the 70s quality was dropping off at a rapid rate.

"Our single-action trigger pull sucks and we're OK with it."

That really simplifies my "Anaconda or S&W" decision.
I am not a lawyer, the above does not constitute legal advice.

No kidding. S&W for me despite the Hillary holes.

Personally I think they're way overpriced. I've had a few over the years, but never really cared for the action and never kept them. One of the new 6" blued ones I had once was a beautiful gun, but it went out of time in the first cylinder full of ammo. Everything I'd heard about the new ones sounded good (even though the trigger was a bit heavy) and I wanted a shooter, not something to sit in the safe. And, I don't recall ever hearing a review that mentioned the rearward arc of the hammer prior to firing in single action. I guess all those S&Ws I have in the safe with excellent triggers have spoiled me (even my lightly tuned Couger has a much better trigger than the Python). The new gun looks great, but for me, the trigger is a disappointment.

First off, I'd oil up the insides up and then go out and put some rounds thru it---quite a few rounds before I judge the gun---times have changed---triggers on most guns are heavier now---it's called lawyer proofing...

                    It's a Colt, you're lucky if it doesn't rattle like a baby's toy...

With Colt's history of "QC", not sure what people who buy their guns expect.

And yeah, I bought a new Colt once. And was disappointed. I think Colt sees that as part of the "Colt buying experience". It's a feature, not a bug, embrace it.

One thing is for sure things change over the years, maybe CZ can put their magic on it and make it better.

I heard the old one went out of timing.
And if you dropped it the hammer would break.

^^^ Very awesome. Thanks for posting the picture. Who did the work?

Edit added: I didn't realize that Cougar was a combination of Colt & Ruger.

Mine did the same thing. I played with the sear engagement angles and I was able to get the pull down to about 3 lbs. The sear still held steady even when I pushed on the hammer and hit the front of the barrel with a mallet. The double action pull is about 9 lbs and seems pretty good. The guns after I gave it a trigger job works great. I understand that at this point in time trigger pulls are dictated by lawyers not gunsmiths. Overall I am happy with my purchase. It compares very favorably with my 3 Classic Pythons. I would even say that I like the double action pull better because it does not stack as much and is much more like a Smith and Wesson (which I like better anyway).
