if this law passes with the ammo thing, would it be worth getting a second gun of the same ammo that i already have. i have a P22 fixed up that i can feed it anything, looking to get a beretta 87 cheetah ($800)that i really want but don't know if it is even worth getting it.

i'm not too caught up on ab2062(?) but last i checked it was definitley going into effect, but i dont know when. i've heard some say July 1 2009, and i've heard some say not until 2010. Which is it???
anyways, it doesnt really make a difference for us here in CA. doj already has my fingerprint and all my info for handguns anyways. so, besides the $3 tax thing i dont see how it'll really affect me... -
not really worried about the finger print and tax.it is the 50 round limit a month. now i heard two different things, 1. for only private transfers, 2. private and from licence dealer. so wich is it?Last edited by luisdeleon; 06-07-2009, 11:04 PM.Comment

None yet... it has only passed the Assembly. It still needs to get past the Senate without getting marked up or emasculated. Then the Governor would have to sign it. None of that beyond the Assembly has happened yet. Until it does, AB2062 ain't worth a bucket of warm spit in the enforcability arena.
Please, please, please... bear in mind that AB2062 would require millions of dollars in new state spending with no funding source. Considering that the current budget is $25+ billion in deficit, and next year's budget has little hope of being balanced without massive spending cuts or massive new taxes, the funding needs of AB2062 would be hard to get around.
Which is exactly what killed the same bill last year........ please don't be spreading the idea that ammo is going to be restricted unless or until the bill actually becomes law, and fight it with every means necessary so that it doesn't become law.

wow you have to ppt handgun ammo. just another way for the government to take cash out or pockets. on the bright side we might be able to finally get ammo from walmart. it would stop people buying ammo just to list it on websites to make money.Comment

If you're worried about the ammo going away, I'd buy up the ammo. Once it's gone/restricted, the gun should be pretty cheap.if this law passes with the ammo thing, would it be worth getting a second gun of the same ammo that i already have. i have a P22 fixed up that i can feed it anything, looking to get a beretta 87 cheetah ($800)that i really want but don't know if it is even worth getting it.Don't feed the cannibals.Comment

My bad... AB962 is this years AB2062, which was also authored by Kevin DeLeon. I got the bill numbers mixed up.
AB962 is not law yet. There is no effective date. Saying that it is law, or is certain to be is pretty much FUD to my thinking. Please see below for the complete updated bill history. It is in the Senate with the Rules committee for assignment.

California's regulations got Mal-Wart out of selling firearms in California. If this bill passes, they will simply walk away from selling ammo. Count on it. The requirements of the bill would put requirements in place that would not be cost effective for most retailers. I'd expect that pretty much everyone but FFL's would stop selling ammo..... which is exactly what DeLeon would like to see.Last edited by BigDogatPlay; 06-07-2009, 11:37 PM.
