    Colt Python Davidsons Engraved?

The sp6wts (New 2020 Colt 6inch python) is on roster. But is the engraved version (DAV-12405) OK to buy? It's a On-roster gun that's been engraved by distributor. Would then be bought on gunbroker new and sent into CA to an FFL for transfer.

I venture to say no? Wanted to check. Apologies if answered elsewhere. I looked and couldn't find it.

I'm not sure, but anytime anyone asks if something is legal in Kalifornia, my instinct is to say "No."

All that engraving puts the children at unnecessary risk. So the engraved version falls into the category of "assault revolver" and is a triple felony with a mandatory sentence of 2,000 years hard labor. But if you kill someone, you're out in less than 7 years. You know, the covid thing.

    Good luck OP.

Agreed, I doubt it is considered rostered. We all know that engraving would make it fail drop testing if done prior to sale. Afterwards, no problem.

Is that like if you pirate a Michael Jackson album, you can get up to 5 years in jail, but if you're the actual doctor that actually killed him with anesthesia, you're out in 4?

No, not on roster. But you could have one converted to single action for DROS then convert it back, it would be roster exempt that way.

Exactly. It's because crimes against the liberal agenda are actually enforced.

You'll also need to get a middle man FFL to order it for you. Davidson's will not ship it to CA.

Talk with EBR or AudioPhil as both are in AZ and will work with you.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

well that stinks. But at least EBR and Alphacat can also do the conversion which may give you more options for selecting a CA FFL.

An member on the mothership forum acquired a "factory" engraved 2020 Python (he has connections), machine tho. The Davidson also machine. I would consider the "factory" engraved at MSRP but not the regular model at MSRP.

It's likely if an FFL ordered it, it would work. Just not through the customer ordering setup.
There might be an ffl in Ca that can do the conversion, maybe 2A Zone?
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

2AZone is what I was thinking. I know Jamie used to dabble in it. I'm not sure the new owners will but it's worth a call...

I know Bret will do Smith's, I got a model 31 through him last year.

Roster lists SKU for a reason. If single shot conversion/exemption is available, you need selling and receiving FFLs who are willing to work with you. In addition to other middlemen FFLs mentioned, add Rifle Gear to the list.
